Korean for Parcel Boxes: Asking a Courier for the Locker Code

Learn polite Korean patterns to ask a courier for the code to a communal parcel box (무인택배함) when your package has been left there and you missed the text.

Includes practice questions and sample answers.

When a delivery is placed in a Korean apartment building's unmanned parcel box (무인택배함), the courier usually sends the locker number and a numeric code by text message. If you missed that message or deleted it by accident, you need to ask for the code again — politely, and in a way that makes clear you are talking about the parcel box, not a door password. This lesson gives you two core patterns: 택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요 (please tell me the parcel box password) and 문자로 받았는데 다시 보내주실 수 있어요? (I received it by text, but could you send it again?). You will practise these with a courier on the phone or at the door, using the polite request ending -아/어 주세요 and its extra-polite variant -아/어 주실 수 있어요?

    By the end, you can…

    • ask a courier for the code to a communal parcel box using 택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요.
    • explain that I received the code by text but need it sent again using 문자로 받았는데 다시 보내주실 수 있어요?
    • check whether a package has been placed in the unmanned parcel box using 무인택배함에 넣어 주셨어요?

    Words you’ll actually use

Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

    Checking available voices…

    택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요.

Please tell me the parcel box password.

    taek-bae-ham bi-mil-beon-ho al-lyeo-ju-se-yo

The most direct polite request. Use it when you know the package is in the box and you just need the numeric code. 택배함 is the everyday short form of 무인택배함.

문자로 받았는데 다시 보내주실 수 있어요?

I received it by text, but could you send it again?

    mun-ja-ro ba-dat-neun-de da-si bo-nae-ju-sil su i-sseo-yo

Use this when you did get the original message but lost it or cannot find it. The -는데 clause softens the request by giving a reason first.

    무인택배함에 넣어 주셨어요?

Did you put it in the unmanned parcel box?

    mu-in-taek-bae-ham-e neo-eo ju-syeo-sseo-yo

A polite yes/no question to confirm where the package was left before you ask for the code. Useful when the delivery notice is unclear.

    비밀번호를 못 받았어요.

    I didn't receive the password.

    bi-mil-beon-ho-reul mot ba-da-sseo-yo

Use this to explain the problem briefly. 못 before the verb means 'could not / did not manage to', which fits a missed or undelivered text.

    다시 한번 알려주시겠어요?

Could you tell me one more time?

    da-si han-beon al-lyeo-ju-si-get-eo-yo

A slightly more formal polite request, useful on the phone with a call centre or when you want to sound extra courteous.

Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

    Make it make sense

    Useful pattern

The core pattern is noun + 알려주세요: 택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요 (please tell me the parcel box password). 알려주세요 comes from 알다 (to know) plus 주다 (to give) plus the polite ending -세요, so it literally means 'please give me the knowledge'. You can swap the noun: 문자 비밀번호 알려주세요 (please tell me the text password). To make it even more polite, use -아/어 주실 수 있어요? as in 다시 보내주실 수 있어요? (could you send it again?). This ending asks whether the person is able to do the favour, which sounds softer than a direct command.

    When to use it

Use 택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요 when you are standing at the keypad and simply need the code. Use 문자로 받았는데 다시 보내주실 수 있어요? when the courier already sent a text and you need it resent. If you are not sure the package is even in the box, first ask 무인택배함에 넣어 주셨어요? (did you put it in the unmanned parcel box?). On the phone, you can add 죄송하지만 (sorry, but) at the start: 죄송하지만 문자로 받았는데 다시 보내주실 수 있어요? This keeps the tone polite even when you are slightly frustrated.

    A conversation you could have

Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.

A little context goes a long way

In Korean apartment complexes, 무인택배함 (unmanned parcel boxes) are common, and couriers usually send the locker number and code by text rather than leaving a paper notice. The code is a numeric password for the keypad, so 비밀번호 is the natural word. When speaking to a courier, use polite -요 forms; dropping them can sound rude. If you call the delivery company's customer service instead, the same patterns work, but you may hear more formal language such as -시겠어요? in return.

    One thing to watch for

Using the door password word 현관 비밀번호 when you mean the parcel box code, or saying 택배함 비밀번호 주세요 without 알려-.

Try this instead: For the parcel box, say 택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요. If you say 현관 비밀번호, the courier may think you mean your apartment door lock. Also, 비밀번호 주세요 can sound like you are asking for an object; 알려주세요 is the natural way to ask for information.

    Your turn

Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.

1You are at the parcel box and need the code. What polite sentence do you say to the courier?

    Show a sample answer

    택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요.

This directly asks for the parcel box password using the polite request 알려주세요. You could also say 무인택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요 for the full term.

2You received the code by text but deleted it. How do you ask for it again politely?

    Show a sample answer

문자로 받았는데 다시 보내주실 수 있어요?

This explains you got it by text and asks if they can resend. A valid alternative is 다시 한번 알려주시겠어요? if you want a slightly more formal tone.

3You are not sure the package is in the unmanned box. What question confirms this?

    Show a sample answer

    무인택배함에 넣어 주셨어요?

This asks whether the courier placed it in the unmanned parcel box. It uses the polite past form -셨어요? and is a natural yes/no question.

    Take this with you

When a package is in a Korean 무인택배함, ask for the code with 택배함 비밀번호 알려주세요. If you missed the text, say 문자로 받았는데 다시 보내주실 수 있어요? Keep the polite -아/어 주세요 ending and you will sound natural and respectful.
