Korean for Delivery Calls: Giving Your Building Entrance Name and Phone Digits
Learn to tell a Korean courier your exact building entrance name (동/호수) and confirm your phone's final digits politely over the phone.

When a courier calls because your address is unclear, you need two things ready: the exact name of your building entrance, such as 3동 2호 라인, and the last digits of the phone number the parcel is addressed to. This lesson teaches polite informal Korean (해요체) for that phone call. You will identify yourself with ...입니다, confirm the call with ...번으로 왔어요, and ask the courier to repeat or wait when you cannot see the label. The focus is on speaking clearly and checking details, not on quoting any company's current procedures.
By the end, you can…
- state my building entrance name using 동 and 호 numbers.
- confirm that a call came to my phone number using ...
- ask a courier to repeat or wait while I check the label.
Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

This is Building 3, entrance line 2.
sam-dong i-ho ra-in-im-ni-da
Use this to name the exact entrance. 동 is the building number, 호 is the unit or entrance number, and 라인 means the entrance line in many complexes.
My number came through as ending in 5678.
je beon-ho-neun kkeu-te o-cheon-yuk-baek-chil-sip-pal-beon-eu-ro wa-sseo-yo
Use this when the courier asks which phone number the parcel is for. Say only the final digits clearly.
Please say that one more time.
da-si han beon mal-sseum-hae ju-se-yo
A polite way to ask the courier to repeat. Useful when the entrance name or phone digits are hard to hear.
Please wait a moment.
jam-si-man gi-da-ryeo ju-se-yo
Use this when you need to check the label or ask someone at home before answering.
Courier, please come to Building 3, entrance line 2.
taek-bae gi-sa-nim, sam-dong i-ho ra-in-eu-ro wa ju-se-yo
A direct but polite instruction. 기사님 is a respectful term for the delivery driver.
Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.
Make it make sense
Useful pattern
The pattern ...입니다 is a polite identification ending. Use it to state your entrance name or your name: 3동 2호 라인입니다 (This is Building 3, entrance line 2). The pattern ...번으로 왔어요 confirms which number a call or parcel came through on: 5678번으로 왔어요 (It came through as 5678). Keep the final digits only, and say them slowly. If you need to ask a question, use ...인가요? or ... (Is this Building 3, entrance line 2?).
When to use it
Use these patterns only during a phone call or at the door when the courier cannot find your entrance. Start with a greeting: 여보세요 (Hello). Then identify yourself: 3동 2호 라인입니다. If the courier asks for your phone number, answer with the last four digits and ... If you cannot see the label, say 잠시만 기다려 주세요 and check. If the courier speaks too fast, say Do not guess the entrance name; give the exact 동 and 호 numbers you use in your complex.
Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.
Hello, is this the courier?yeo-bo-se-yo, taek-bae gi-sa-nim-in-ga-yo

One moment, please say that one more time.jam-si-man-yo, da-si han beon mal-sseum-hae ju-se-yoA little context goes a long way
In Korean apartment complexes, the entrance name often includes 동 (building number), 호 (unit or entrance number), and sometimes 라인 (entrance line). Couriers may call rather than text when the label is unclear, so answering with the exact entrance name and final phone digits is normal and appreciated. Keep your tone polite but brief; 해요체 is appropriate for a short call with a delivery driver you do not know.
One thing to watch for
Saying the full phone number when the courier only needs the final digits.
Try this instead: Give only the last digits and use the pattern ... For example, say 5678번으로 왔어요, not the entire number. This matches how the courier checks the label and avoids confusion.
Your turn
Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.
1The courier asks which entrance you are at. You are at building 5, entrance line 1. What do you say?
Show a sample answer
This uses the ...입니다 pattern with the correct 동 and 호 numbers. You could also add a polite request such as 5동 1호 라인으로 와 주세요 if you want the courier to come there.
2The courier asks which phone number the parcel is for. Your number ends in 4321. What do you say?
Show a sample answer
This uses ...번으로 왔어요 with the final digits. If the courier still seems unsure, you can repeat it slowly or say 다시 한 번 말씀해 주세요 to hear their question again.
3You cannot see the label and need a moment. What polite phrase do you use?
Show a sample answer
This asks the courier to wait briefly while you check. You could also say 잠시만요, which is shorter and equally polite in this context.
Keep your building entrance name and final phone digits ready, say them slowly with ...입니다 and ...번으로 왔어요, and ask the courier to repeat or wait when you need to check.
