The pattern je voudrais + infinitive lets you make any polite request: je voudrais réserver (I'd like to book), je voudrais confirmer (I'd like to confirm), je voudrais annuler (I'd like to cancel). In France, Belgium and Switzerland, a brief bonjour before your request is expected and marks you as polite; starting with je voudrais without a greeting can feel abrupt. In Quebec, service is often equally polite but more informal, and bonjour works for both hello and good day. Written confirmations may use the 24-hour clock: arrivée à 15 h, départ à 11 h.
