In this workshop, you will practice asking about parking in Spanish and understanding common replies. You will use short questions and listen for key words like included, guests, cars, and near the hotel. The goal is to help you feel ready to ask about parking at a hotel or similar place. You can listen to the recorded lines and repeat them, and you can also practice both the guest and receptionist roles out loud. Use the answer checks to guide your practice.

    Asking if parking is included

Start with a polite question. A common way to ask if parking is included is «¿El estacionamiento está incluido?». This means 'Is parking included?' You can also ask «¿El parqueadero está incluido?», which has the same meaning but uses a word common in some regions. Another option is «¿El parking está incluido?», which uses a borrowed English word. All three questions work in a hotel or apartment setting. When you ask, speak clearly and listen for the reply. The answer will often start with 'Sí' or 'No'. If the answer is 'Sí', you may hear that it is included for guests, as in «Sí, el estacionamiento está incluido para los huéspedes.». That means parking is included for people staying at the hotel. If you need to ask a simpler question about availability, you can say «¿Hay estacionamiento?», which means 'Is there parking?' or 'Do you have parking?' This is a yes-or-no question. Practice saying each question out loud. Focus on the rhythm and the stressed syllables. For example, in «¿El estacionamiento está incluido?», listen for estaciona-MIEN-to and in-CLUI-do. Do not worry about perfect pronunciation; aim to be understood.

    Understanding replies about parking options

When you ask about parking, the reply may give you more details. For example, after you ask «¿El estacionamiento está incluido?», you might hear «Sí, el estacionamiento está incluido para los huéspedes.». This reply means 'Yes, parking is included for guests.' The key words are 'Sí' (yes), 'incluido' (included), and 'huéspedes' (guests). If you ask a follow-up question like «Perfecto. ¿Y hay estacionamiento para camiones o solo para carros?», which means 'And is there parking for trucks or only for cars?', you may hear «Solo para carros, pero hay un parqueadero grande cerca del hotel.». That reply means 'Only for cars, but there is a large parking lot near the hotel.' Notice the words 'solo' (only), 'carros' (cars), 'parqueadero' (parking lot), 'grande' (large), and 'cerca del hotel' (near the hotel). These words help you understand what kind of parking is available and where it is. Listen for the contrast word 'pero' (but), which often introduces an alternative. In this case, the alternative is a large parking lot near the hotel. Practice listening to these replies and repeating them. You can also practice saying the replies yourself to get used to the sounds.

Putting it together in a short exchange

Now you can combine your question with a follow-up. Imagine you are at a hotel and you have a reservation. You can start with «Buenas tardes, tengo una reservación. ¿El estacionamiento está incluido?», which means 'Good afternoon, I have a reservation. Is parking included?' This is a polite and complete way to ask. If the answer is «Sí, el estacionamiento está incluido para los huéspedes.», you know parking is included for guests. Then you can ask a follow-up like «Perfecto. ¿Y hay estacionamiento para camiones o solo para carros?» to find out about trucks or cars. The reply «Solo para carros, pero hay un parqueadero grande cerca del hotel.» tells you that only cars are allowed, but there is a large parking lot near the hotel. This exchange shows how a simple question can lead to useful details. When you practice, try to keep your tone friendly and calm. If you do not understand a word, you can ask the person to repeat or speak more slowly, but for now, focus on these phrases. Remember that you can use «¿Hay estacionamiento?» if you just want to know if parking exists at all. Use «¿El estacionamiento está incluido?», «¿El parqueadero está incluido?», or «¿El parking está incluido?» when you want to know if it is included. Each question is useful in different situations.

    Your turn

Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.

    1

Guided exchange: Ask if parking is included

Imagine you are at a hotel reception. You have a reservation and you want to know if parking is included. You will play the guest. The receptionist will reply with a recorded line.

Your task: Say the question «¿El estacionamiento está incluido?» out loud. Then listen to the reply «Sí, el estacionamiento está incluido para los huéspedes.». After listening, say the reply «Sí, el estacionamiento está incluido para los huéspedes.» yourself to practice the pronunciation. Finally, answer this question: Does the reply mean parking is included for guests?

    2

Reply comprehension: Choose the correct meaning

You will hear a reply about parking. Your job is to choose what it means. This practice helps you understand details like whether parking is only for cars or if there is another option.

Your task: Listen to the reply «Solo para carros, pero hay un parqueadero grande cerca del hotel.». Then choose the correct meaning from these options: A) Parking is only for trucks, but there is a small parking lot far away. B) Parking is only for cars, but there is a large parking lot near the hotel. C) Parking is included for guests and there is also parking for trucks.

    3

Recall and role-play: Ask and answer about parking

Now you will practice both roles. First, you will be the guest asking about parking. Then you will be the receptionist answering. Use the recorded lines to guide you.

Your task: Step 1: As the guest, say the question «Buenas tardes, tengo una reservación. ¿El estacionamiento está incluido?» out loud. This means 'Good afternoon, I have a reservation. Is parking included?' Step 2: As the receptionist, say the reply «Sí, el estacionamiento está incluido para los huéspedes.» out loud. Step 3: As the guest again, say the follow-up question «Perfecto. ¿Y hay estacionamiento para camiones o solo para carros?» out loud. Step 4: As the receptionist, say the reply «Solo para carros, pero hay un parqueadero grande cerca del hotel.» out loud. After you finish, answer this question: In «Perfecto. ¿Y hay estacionamiento para camiones o solo para carros?», what contrast is the guest asking about?

    Common questions

What is the difference between «¿El estacionamiento está incluido?» and «¿Hay estacionamiento?»?

«¿El estacionamiento está incluido?» means 'Is parking included?' It asks whether parking is part of what you get, for example with a hotel room. «¿Hay estacionamiento?» means 'Is there parking?' or 'Do you have parking?' It simply asks if parking exists at all. Use «¿El estacionamiento está incluido?» when you want to know if it is included, and «¿Hay estacionamiento?» when you just want to know if it is available.
