Learn to ask whether parking is included at hotels and other places in Latin American Spanish, understand common replies, and talk about parking options.

Includes practice questions and sample answers.

When you book a hotel, apartment, or tour in a Spanish-speaking country, one of the most practical questions you can ask is whether parking is included. In this lesson you will learn a simple question pattern using the verb incluir (to include), how to ask if parking is available, and how to understand the most common answers. You will also learn the difference between estacionamiento, parking, and parqueadero, which vary by region. All examples use broadly useful Latin American Spanish, with regional notes where they matter.

    By the end, you can…

    • ask whether parking is included at a hotel or other place.
    • ask if parking is available and understand common replies about parking options.

    Words you’ll actually use

Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

    Checking available voices…

    ¿El estacionamiento está incluido?

    Is parking included?

    el es-tah-syo-nah-MYEN-toh es-TAH een-kloo-EE-doh

The most broadly useful form in Latin American Spanish. Use it at hotels, apartments, and tour offices. In Spain, people usually say el aparcamiento instead of el estacionamiento.

    ¿Hay estacionamiento?

Is there parking? / Do you have parking?

    ai es-tah-syo-nah-MYEN-toh

A simple yes-or-no question about availability. Hay means 'there is' or 'there are' and does not change for singular or plural.

    ¿El parqueadero está incluido?

    Is parking included?

    el par-kay-AH-deh-roh es-TAH een-kloo-EE-doh

Common in Colombia, Ecuador, and parts of Central America. In these regions, parqueadero is the everyday word for a parking lot or garage.

    ¿El parking está incluido?

    Is parking included?

    el PAR-king es-TAH een-kloo-EE-doh

Used in some regions, especially Mexico and Spain, as a borrowed English word. It is masculine: el parking.

    ¿El estacionamiento es gratis?

    Is parking free?

    el es-tah-syo-nah-MYEN-toh es GRAH-tees

Use this when you want to know specifically about cost. Gratis means 'free of charge' and does not change form.

Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

    Make it make sense

    Useful pattern

The core pattern is: ¿El estacionamiento está incluido? You can replace estacionamiento with parqueadero or parking depending on the region. The verb estar (está) is used here because you are asking about the current state or condition of the parking, not about a permanent characteristic. To ask about any included service, keep the same structure: ¿El desayuno está incluido? (Is breakfast included?), ¿El wifi está incluido? (Is wifi included?). For a simple availability question, use hay: ¿Hay estacionamiento? This asks whether parking exists at the place, without asking about price.

    When to use it

Use ¿El estacionamiento está incluido? when you already know the place has parking and you want to confirm whether the price covers it. Use ¿Hay estacionamiento? when you are not sure parking exists at all. If the answer is sí, you can follow up with ¿Es gratis? or ¿Cuánto cuesta? (How much does it cost?). If the answer is no, you might hear No, pero hay un estacionamiento cerca. (No, but there is a parking lot nearby.) In Colombia and Ecuador, parqueadero is the everyday word; in Mexico, parking is common; in most other Latin American countries, estacionamiento is understood. In Spain, the usual word is aparcamiento.

    A conversation you could have

Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.

A little context goes a long way

In many Latin American cities, parking is limited and may cost extra even at hotels. Asking politely with ¿El estacionamiento está incluido? is normal and expected. The word for parking changes by country: estacionamiento is widely understood, parqueadero is standard in Colombia and Ecuador, and parking is common in Mexico and Spain. Using the local word shows respect and avoids confusion.

    One thing to watch for

    Saying ¿El estacionamiento es incluido?

Try this instead: Use está, not es, with incluido for this meaning: ¿El estacionamiento está incluido? The verb estar describes the current condition of the parking. Es incluido would sound like a permanent definition and is not used in this context.

    Your turn

Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.

1How would you ask 'Is parking included?' using the most broadly useful Latin American word?

    Show a sample answer

    ¿El estacionamiento está incluido?

This uses estacionamiento, which is widely understood across Latin America, with the correct verb está and the participle incluido. In Colombia, ¿El parqueadero está incluido? is equally correct.

2A hotel clerk says 'Solo para huéspedes.' What does that mean for you?

    Show a sample answer

Parking is only for guests staying at the hotel.

Solo para huéspedes means 'only for guests.' If you are not staying there, you cannot use that parking. The clerk may then suggest another option nearby.

3How do you ask if parking is free?

    Show a sample answer

    ¿El estacionamiento es gratis?

This asks specifically about cost. Gratis means 'free of charge.' You could also ask ¿Es gratis el estacionamiento? with the same meaning.

    Take this with you

Ask ¿El estacionamiento está incluido? to confirm parking is included, and ¿Hay estacionamiento? to check if parking exists. Adjust the noun to parqueadero or parking depending on the region.
