In this workshop you practice a short, useful conversation at a ticket window. You will ask whether a combo ticket or pass exists, ask the price, and ask how much you save. The native examples come from the recordings, and each one is explained in English before you try it. You can play both roles: the visitor and the staff member. Speak out loud, repeat each line a few times, and check your answers with the self-checks after every task.
Asking if a combo ticket exists
Start with the simplest question. «¿Hay boleto combinado?» means "Is there a combo ticket?" This is short and direct, and it works well at a ticket window. If you want to sound a little more specific, you can ask «¿Hay un pase para varios museos?», which means "Is there a pass for several museums?" The word pase works like "pass" in English. Use these two questions when you first arrive and want to know your options. Say them slowly first, then at a natural speed. Keep your voice calm and friendly, and look at the staff member when you speak.
Asking about price and savings
After you know a combo ticket exists, ask the price. «¿Cuánto cuesta el boleto combinado?» means "How much does the combo ticket cost?" This is a polite, standard price question. Then ask about the value. «¿Cuánto ahorro con el pase?» means "How much do I save with the pass?" The word ahorro means "I save." These two questions help you decide if the combo ticket is a good choice for you. Practice them together as a small pair: first the price question, then the savings question. Pause between them, as if you are listening to the answer.
A full exchange to listen and repeat
Now listen to a complete exchange. The visitor says «Buenos días, ¿hay boleto combinado para el museo y las ruinas?», which means "Good morning, is there a combo ticket for the museum and the ruins?" The staff member answers «Sí, hay un pase para los dos. Cuesta doscientos pesos.», which means "Yes, there is a pass for both. It costs two hundred pesos." The visitor then asks «¿Cuánto ahorro con el pase?», which means "How much do I save with the pass?" The staff member replies «Ahorra cincuenta pesos. También incluye el jardín botánico.», which means "You save fifty pesos. It also includes the botanical garden." Notice the order: ask if it exists, ask the price, then ask about savings. Repeat each line after the recording, and try to copy the rhythm.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Buenos días, ¿hay boleto combinado para el museo y las ruinas?
Good morning, is there a combo ticket for the museum and the ruins?Sí, hay un pase para los dos. Cuesta doscientos pesos.
Yes, there is a pass for both. It costs two hundred pesos.¿Cuánto ahorro con el pase?
How much do I save with the pass?Ahorra cincuenta pesos. También incluye el jardín botánico.
You save fifty pesos. It also includes the botanical garden.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided exchange at the ticket window
Imagine you are at a ticket window. You want to visit a museum and some ruins. You will play the visitor first, then the staff member.
Your task: Play the visitor. Say the question from «Buenos días, ¿hay boleto combinado para el museo y las ruinas?» out loud. Then play the staff member and say the answer from «Sí, hay un pase para los dos. Cuesta doscientos pesos.». Next, play the visitor again and say the question from «¿Cuánto ahorro con el pase?». Finally, play the staff member and say the reply from «Ahorra cincuenta pesos. También incluye el jardín botánico.». Repeat the whole exchange two times.
Choose the right reply
You will hear or read a question, and you choose the best reply from the recordings. This checks if you understand the roles.
Your task: Question 1: A visitor asks «¿Hay boleto combinado?». Which reply fits better: the staff answer in «Sí, hay un pase para los dos. Cuesta doscientos pesos.» or the visitor question in «¿Cuánto ahorro con el pase?»? Question 2: A visitor asks «¿Cuánto cuesta el boleto combinado?». Which line is a price answer: «Sí, hay un pase para los dos. Cuesta doscientos pesos.» or «¿Hay un pase para varios museos?»? Question 3: A visitor asks «¿Cuánto ahorro con el pase?». Which line answers about savings: «Ahorra cincuenta pesos. También incluye el jardín botánico.» or «Buenos días, ¿hay boleto combinado para el museo y las ruinas?»?
Recall the lines with the correct roles
Cover the text or look away. You will recall the exchange from memory and keep the visitor and staff roles correct.
Your task: Say the visitor's first question from memory. Then say the staff member's answer. Then say the visitor's savings question. Then say the staff member's final reply. After that, say the two short questions «¿Hay boleto combinado?» and «¿Hay un pase para varios museos?» from memory.
Common questions
Do I need to memorize every line before I speak?
No. Start by repeating each line after the recording. Then try the guided exchange with the text in front of you. After a few rounds, cover the text and recall the lines. Short, repeated practice is more useful than trying to memorize everything at once.
What if the staff member gives a different answer than in the recording?
That is normal. The recordings show one possible exchange. Listen for the key words: pase, boleto combinado, cuesta, and ahorra. If you hear a price or a savings amount, you can still understand the main idea. You can also repeat your question from «¿Cuánto cuesta el boleto combinado?» or «¿Cuánto ahorro con el pase?» to confirm.
