This workshop helps you speak about simple study habits in Japanese. You will hear short lines about studying every morning, making flashcards, concentrating in the morning, and studying at the library. You will also hear a short exchange between two speakers. Listen to each recording, understand its English meaning, then practise saying the line yourself. The tasks move from guided speaking to understanding a reply, and finally to recalling the exchange with the correct roles. You can practise both Speaker A and Speaker B lines yourself, but there is no automatic assessment, so check your own answers using the notes provided.

    Talking About Your Study Routine

Start with single lines about your routine. «毎朝、勉強します。» means that you study every morning. «フラッシュカードを作ります。» means that you make flashcards. «朝は集中できます。» means that you can concentrate in the morning. «図書館で勉強するのが好きです。» means that you like studying at the library. Read each English meaning first, then listen and repeat the Japanese line. Keep your voice steady and say each line at a comfortable speed. These four lines give you useful pieces for talking about when you study, what you do, when you focus well, and where you like to study.

    A Short Exchange About Studying

Now listen to a short conversation. Speaker A asks «毎日、勉強しますか。», which means: do you study every day? Speaker B answers with «はい、毎朝、勉強します。フラッシュカードを作ります。», which means: yes, I study every morning, and I make flashcards. Speaker A replies with «いいですね。どこで勉強しますか。», which means: that's nice, where do you study? Speaker B answers with «図書館で勉強します。朝は集中できます。», which means: I study at the library, and I can concentrate in the morning. Notice how the answer adds two pieces of information: a routine and a study method, then a place and a reason. Practise each line slowly, then try the whole exchange.

    Hear the phrases in context

Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

    Checking available voices…

    毎朝、勉強します。

    I study every morning.

    Maiasa, benkyou shimasu.

    フラッシュカードを作ります。

    I make flashcards.

    Furasshu kaado o tsukurimasu.

    朝は集中できます。

I can concentrate in the morning.

    Asa wa shuuchuu dekimasu.

    図書館で勉強するのが好きです。

I like studying at the library.

Toshokan de benkyou suru no ga suki desu.

    Try a short roleplay

Read one side aloud, then answer in your own words. The goal is to make the exchange yours.

    A

    毎日、勉強しますか。

    Do you study every day?
    B

    はい、毎朝、勉強します。フラッシュカードを作ります。

Yes, I study every morning. I make flashcards.
    A

    いいですね。どこで勉強しますか。

That's nice. Where do you study?
    B

    図書館で勉強します。朝は集中できます。

I study at the library. I can concentrate in the morning.
Say it before you study it

    Your turn

Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.

    1

    Guided Speaking: Your Study Routine

You will practise three single lines about study habits. Read the English meaning, then say the Japanese line aloud.

Your task: Say the line for each meaning: I study every morning; I make flashcards; I can concentrate in the morning. Use the recordings as your model and repeat each line twice.

    2

Reply Comprehension: Choose the Correct Response

You will hear a question and choose which reply fits. The question is «毎日、勉強しますか。», meaning: do you study every day?

Your task: Listen to the question, then choose the better reply: «はい、毎朝、勉強します。フラッシュカードを作ります。», meaning yes, I study every morning and I make flashcards, or «図書館で勉強するのが好きです。», meaning I like studying at the library. Say your chosen reply aloud.

    3

Recall the Exchange with Correct Roles

You will rebuild the short exchange between Speaker A and Speaker B. Speaker A asks the question, and Speaker B gives the answer.

Your task: Say the exchange in order. Speaker A says «毎日、勉強しますか。», then Speaker B says «はい、毎朝、勉強します。フラッシュカードを作ります。». Speaker A says «いいですね。どこで勉強しますか。», then Speaker B says «図書館で勉強します。朝は集中できます。». Try it once while looking at the text, then once without looking at the text.

    Common questions

How can I practise if I am learning alone?

Play each recording and repeat after it. For the exchange, you can say both Speaker A and Speaker B lines yourself. Record yourself, then compare your speaking with the recording. You can also pause after each line and repeat it before moving to the next line.

What should I focus on first: speed or accuracy?

Focus on accuracy first. Say each line slowly and clearly, using the recording as a model. Once you can say the lines without stopping, increase your speed a little. Clear pronunciation and correct line order matter more than speaking quickly.
