In this workshop you will practice a short goodbye exchange in Chinese. You will thank a host, say you had a good time, and respond when someone suggests meeting again. Each native line is given with its English meaning, and you can play both roles with the recordings. The goal is to speak the lines aloud clearly, not to memorize grammar rules.
Thanking a host and saying you enjoyed the visit
When you leave a meal or a gathering, a simple thank-you is often enough. «谢谢你的招待。» means "Thanks for your hospitality." «谢谢你请我。» means "Thanks for inviting me." If you want to add how you felt, «我玩得很开心。» means "I had a great time," and «我过得很愉快。» means "I had a very pleasant time." You can say one of these lines by itself, or put a thank-you and a feeling together. «谢谢你的招待,我玩得很开心。» means "Thanks for your hospitality, I had a great time." Notice that the thank-you comes first, then the comment about the visit. Say each line slowly, then at a natural speed.
Answering a thank-you and making a simple plan
When someone thanks you, a short friendly reply keeps the conversation going. «不客气,你能来我很高兴。» means "You're welcome, I'm glad you could come." It works well when you are the host and your guest has just thanked you. Later, the guest may suggest meeting again. «下次再聚,我请你。» means "Let's get together again next time, my treat." The host can reply «好啊,一言为定。» meaning "Sure, it's a deal." In this pair, the guest suggests the plan first, and the host agrees. Keep the order: suggestion, then agreement. Practice both roles so you can understand the reply as well as say it.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Guided goodbye exchange
Imagine you are a guest leaving a friend's home after dinner. Your friend is the host. You will thank the host and say you had a good time. Then the host replies.
Your task: Read the guest part aloud: «谢谢你的招待,我玩得很开心。». Then read the host reply aloud: «不客气,你能来我很高兴。». After that, switch roles and read the same two lines again, keeping the original conversation order: guest line first, host reply second.
Choose the right reply
A guest has just said «谢谢你的招待,我玩得很开心。» to you. You are the host. You want to answer warmly and show you are glad the guest came.
Your task: Which recorded line fits as your reply: «不客气,你能来我很高兴。» or «好啊,一言为定。»? Say your chosen line aloud, then say the other line aloud and notice that it does not answer a thank-you in this scene.
Recall the lines with correct roles
You will recall the goodbye exchange from memory. One person is the guest and one person is the host. The guest speaks first with a thank-you and a comment about the visit. The host answers. Then the guest suggests meeting again, and the host agrees.
Your task: Say the guest's first line from memory. It should match «谢谢你的招待,我玩得很开心。». Then say the host's reply from memory. It should match «不客气,你能来我很高兴。». Next, say the guest's suggestion from memory. It should match «下次再聚,我请你。». Finally, say the host's agreement from memory. It should match «好啊,一言为定。». If you cannot recall a line, listen to the recording again and repeat it.
Common questions
Can I use these lines if I am the host, not the guest?
Yes. «不客气,你能来我很高兴。» works when you are the host and your guest has thanked you. The other lines in this workshop are mainly for the guest, so practice them as the guest and use «不客气,你能来我很高兴。» as the host reply.
What should I say first when I leave: the thank-you or the comment about the visit?
Start with the thank-you. «谢谢你的招待,我玩得很开心。» shows a thank-you followed by a comment about the visit, and «不客气,你能来我很高兴。» answers that thank-you. Keeping this order makes the exchange clear and polite.
