In this workshop you practice a short, useful exchange for finding a tourist information center. You will ask where it is, understand a simple direction, and check whether maps are available. Asking Where the Tourist Information Center Is
Start with a polite question. «旅游信息中心在哪儿？» means "Where is the tourist information center?" and «游客中心在哪儿？» means "Where is the tourist center?" Both ask for the same kind of place, but the first is a little more complete. If you want to begin politely, «请问，服务中心在哪儿？» means "Excuse me, where is the service center?" The word for "excuse me" comes first, then the question. When you ask, keep your voice calm and let the question rise slightly at the end. Practice each line slowly, then at a natural speed.
Understanding the Reply and Asking About Maps
After you ask, listen for a short direction. «在火车站里面，一直走。» means "It is inside the train station. Go straight." This tells you the location and one movement. Do not confuse a location on the right with an instruction to turn right; here the reply only says the place is inside the train station and to go straight. You can also ask about maps. «这里有地图吗？» means "Do you have a map here?" and «那里有地图吗？» means "Do they have maps there?" The second one asks about another place, so use it after you hear where the center is. A possible answer is «有，还有会说英语的工作人员。», which means "Yes, and there are also staff members who speak English."
Putting the Exchange Together
A full exchange can move from question to reply to follow-up. One speaker asks «请问，游客中心在哪儿？», which means "Excuse me, where is the tourist center?" The other speaker answers with «在火车站里面，一直走。». Then the first speaker asks «那里有地图吗？», and the second speaker answers with «有，还有会说英语的工作人员。». Notice the order: question, reply, follow-up question, follow-up answer. If you swap roles, you change who reads each part, but the order stays the same. Practice the whole exchange once with the audio, then try it without looking at the lines.

Can I use these lines if I am the staff member instead of the visitor?
Yes. If you play the staff member, you read «在火车站里面，一直走。» and «有，还有会说英语的工作人员。». The visitor reads «请问，游客中心在哪儿？» and «那里有地图吗？». Swapping roles changes who reads each part, but the order of question, reply, follow-up question, and follow-up answer stays the same.
