This workshop helps you ask simple questions about internet speed and Wi-Fi, and understand short answers. You will practice three question types: speed, reliability, and availability. Each native example is a recorded line you can listen to and repeat. You will also practice a short exchange between a guest and staff, then check your understanding with a reply-choice task, and finally recall the lines with the roles swapped.
Asking About Speed and Reliability
Start with three short questions. «网快吗?» means "Is the internet fast?" Use it when you want to know if the connection is quick enough for your needs. «网慢吗?» means "Is the internet slow?" This is useful when a connection seems weak or when you want to confirm a problem. «网稳定吗?» means "Is the internet stable/reliable?" Use it when you care about whether the connection stays connected without dropping. These are yes-or-no questions, so a short answer is enough. Listen to each recording, then repeat it aloud. Keep your tone level and clear. Do not add extra words yet; practice the exact question first.
Asking About Wi-Fi Availability
To ask about Wi-Fi, use «有Wi-Fi吗?», which means "Is there Wi-Fi?" This is a general availability question. When you are at a place and want to ask a person, add a greeting and a location word. «你好,这里有Wi-Fi吗?» means "Hello, is there Wi-Fi here?" Notice that the greeting comes first, then the question. This is a polite way to begin. After you ask, listen for a short answer. A reply may confirm availability and also describe speed or stability. Practice «有Wi-Fi吗?» and «你好,这里有Wi-Fi吗?» aloud. Then imagine you are at a cafe or hotel front desk and ask the question to a staff member.
Understanding a Short Reply
A reply can give more than one piece of information. «有。网很快,也很稳定。» means "Yes. The internet is fast and also very stable." This answers both speed and reliability. «快,但是晚上有时候会慢。» means "It is fast, but sometimes it gets slow in the evening." This answers the speed question but adds a time when it changes. When you hear a reply, listen for the first word. A yes or no often comes first. Then listen for words about fast, slow, or stable. In the recorded line «太好了。网快吗?我要开视频会议。», the speaker says "Great. Is the internet fast? I need to start a video meeting." This shows a reason for asking, and you can repeat the whole line as recorded.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.
Checking available voices…

wǎng kuài ma?
网慢吗?
Is the internet slow?
wǎng màn ma?
网稳定吗?
Is the internet stable/reliable?
wǎng wěndìng ma?
有Wi-Fi吗?

yǒu Wi-Fi ma?
Read one side aloud, then answer in your own words. The goal is to make the exchange yours.
你好,这里有Wi-Fi吗?
Hello, is there Wi-Fi here?有。网很快,也很稳定。
Yes. The internet is fast and also very stable.太好了。网快吗?我要开视频会议。
Great. Is the internet fast? I need to start a video meeting.快,但是晚上有时候会慢。
It is fast, but sometimes it gets slow in the evening.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided Guest and Staff Exchange
You are a guest at a hotel front desk. The staff member is in front of you. You will read the guest part. Your partner or audio will read the staff part. If you are alone, read both parts aloud, but keep the order: guest question first, then staff reply.
Your task: Read the guest line «你好,这里有Wi-Fi吗?» aloud. Then listen to or read the staff reply «有。网很快,也很稳定。». After that, read the guest follow-up «太好了。网快吗?我要开视频会议。». Finally, listen to or read the staff reply «快,但是晚上有时候会慢。». Do not change the order. The guest asks first, the staff answers, the guest asks again, and the staff answers again.
Choose the Correct Reply
You will hear or read a question. Then choose the reply that matches it. The questions and replies are from the recordings. Read each option carefully before choosing.
Your task: Question 1: «网快吗?» Which reply fits? Option A: «快,但是晚上有时候会慢。» Option B: «有Wi-Fi吗?». Question 2: «有Wi-Fi吗?» Which reply fits? Option A: «有。网很快,也很稳定。» Option B: «网慢吗?». Question 3: «太好了。网快吗?我要开视频会议。» Which reply fits? Option A: «快,但是晚上有时候会慢。» Option B: «网稳定吗?». Write your answers, then check below.
Recall and Swap Roles
Cover the text. You will recall the lines from memory. Then swap roles with your partner or audio. The guest asks about Wi-Fi and speed. The staff answers. Keep the chronological order: question, reply, follow-up question, reply.
Your task: First, say the guest question that means "Hello, is there Wi-Fi here?" Then say the staff reply that means "Yes. The internet is fast and also very stable." Then say the guest follow-up that means "Great. Is the internet fast? I need to start a video meeting." Then say the staff reply that means "It is fast, but sometimes it gets slow in the evening." After that, swap roles and repeat the same four lines in the same order.
Common questions
Can I practice alone without a partner?
Yes. You can play both roles with the audio. Read the guest line, then play or read the staff reply. Then read the next guest line and the next staff reply. There is no automatic assessment, so use the answer key and success criteria to check yourself.
What should I listen for in a short reply?
Listen for the first word, which is often yes or no. Then listen for words about fast, slow, or stable. A reply may also add a time, such as in the evening. This helps you know whether the connection changes during the day.
