To express enthusiasm, use 'me encanta' + singular noun or infinitive, or 'me encantan' + plural noun. For example: 'Me encanta leer' (I love reading), 'Me encantan los deportes' (I love sports). To express frequency, use 'paso' + time expression + gerund: 'Paso dos horas al día escuchando música' (I spend two hours a day listening to music). You can also use adverbs like 'siempre' (always), 'a menudo' (often), 'a veces' (sometimes), 'nunca' (never).
When to use it
Use these phrases in casual conversations about free time. When someone shares a hobby, show interest by asking follow-up questions: '¿Y por qué te gusta?' (And why do you like it?), '¿Desde cuándo lo haces?' (Since when do you do it?). This keeps the conversation flowing and shows you care. Remember that in Spanish, 'me gusta' literally means 'it pleases me', so the subject is the hobby, not you. That's why we say 'me gusta el deporte' (I like sports) and not 'yo gusto el deporte'.

'Me encanta' is common throughout the Spanish-speaking world to express strong liking. In Spain, 'me mola' is informal slang for 'I love it', but it's not used in Latin America. When talking about hobbies, Spanish speakers commonly use 'practicar' for sports and 'tocar' for instruments. For example, 'practico fútbol' (I play soccer), 'toco la guitarra' (I play guitar).
One thing to watch for
Saying 'Yo gusto leer' to mean 'I like reading'.
Try this instead: The correct form is 'Me gusta leer'. In Spanish, 'gustar' works differently: the thing liked is the subject. So you say 'Me gusta leer' (literally 'Reading pleases me'). For plural: 'Me gustan los libros' (I like books).
