Korean for thanking club members after your first session

Learn polite informal Korean to thank people and say goodbye when leaving your first club meeting, with reusable patterns for future sessions.

Includes practice questions and sample answers.
A quiet illustrated scene for evening language practice

When your first club meeting ends, you usually want to do two things at once: thank the people who included you, and make a friendly exit that leaves the door open for next time. Korean handles this with short, warm set phrases rather than long speeches. The key is to thank the people or the experience, then signal that you hope to meet again. This lesson gives you three reusable patterns for that exact moment, plus questions you can ask a staff member or organizer before you leave.

    By the end, you can…

    • thank club members after my first session using natural polite informal Korean.
    • say goodbye in a way that suggests I want to come back.
    • ask a staff member or organizer a simple follow-up question before leaving.

    Words you’ll actually use

Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

    Checking available voices…

    I enjoyed today, thank you.

    oneul jeulgeowosseoyo, gamsahamnida

Use this as you leave the room or say goodbye to the group. It thanks people for the experience of today, not for a specific favour.

    See you again next time.

    daeume tto bwoyo

A warm, slightly softer goodbye than 안녕히 계세요. It signals you expect or hope to return.

Thank you for helping me a lot since it was my first time.

    cheoeumira mani dowajusyeoseo gamsahaeyo

Use with one or two people who guided you, not with the whole room at once.

    When is the next meeting?

    daeum moimeun eonjeyeyo?

A practical question for a staff member or organizer. It asks about a schedule, not about payment or membership terms.

I'll head off first today. Goodbye.

oneul meonjeo ga bolgeyo. annyeonghi gyeseyo

Use when others are staying. 안녕히 계세요 is said to the people who remain.

Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

    Make it make sense

    Useful pattern

The pattern 오늘 즐거웠어요, 감사합니다 combines a comment on the day with thanks. 즐거웠어요 is a past-tense polite informal form of 즐겁다, so it means 'it was enjoyable'. You can swap 오늘 for a specific activity: 이야기 나눠서 즐거웠어요 ('I enjoyed talking with you'). 감사합니다 is the safe, polite thank-you for this setting. If you want to be a little warmer and less formal, 감사해요 works too, but 감사합니다 is never wrong when leaving a first meeting.

    When to use it

Use these lines at the doorway, not in the middle of an activity. Say 오늘 즐거웠어요, 감사합니다 to the group or to the person who invited you. Then add 다음에 또 봬요 as you step out. If you are the first to leave, 안녕히 계세요 is a natural exit. Avoid announcing a long reason; a short line is enough. If someone helped you personally, use 처음이라 많이 도와주셔서 감사해요 directly to them before the group goodbye.

    A conversation you could have

Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.

Yes, when is the next meeting?ne, daeum moimeun eonjeyeyo?
    B

It's the same time next week. I'll head off first, goodbye.daeum ju gateun siganieyo. jeo meonjeo ga bolgeyo, annyeonghi gyeseyo

A little context goes a long way

Korean club goodbyes are often short and group-oriented. Saying thank you to the room as a whole is normal, and 다음에 또 봬요 is a soft way to show interest without promising attendance. If you are the one leaving early, 안녕히 계세요 is said to those staying; if you are the last to leave, 안녕히 가세요 is said to those departing.

    One thing to watch for

Translating 'Thank you for the club' literally as 클럽을 감사합니다.

Try this instead: 감사하다 does not take a direct object like that. Thank the people or the experience instead: 와 주셔서 감사합니다 ('thank you for coming') or 오늘 즐거웠어요, 감사합니다 ('I enjoyed today, thank you').

    Your turn

Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.

1You are leaving your first club meeting and want to thank the group and suggest you will return. What do you say?

    Show a sample answer

This pairs thanks for the day with a friendly goodbye that implies future meetings. 감사해요 instead of 감사합니다 is also fine in a relaxed group.

2You are the first to leave while others stay. What is a natural goodbye line?

    Show a sample answer

안녕히 계세요 is used with people who remain. If you are leaving with everyone else, 안녕히 가세요 is the matching form.

3You want to ask an organizer when the next meeting is. What do you say?

    Show a sample answer

This asks only about the schedule. For other details, ask the organizer directly rather than assuming a policy.

    Take this with you

Thank the day, not the club: 오늘 즐거웠어요, 감사합니다. Then leave the door open with 다음에 또 봬요.
