Japanese for Redelivery: Choose a Two-Hour Window on the Phone
Learn to call the number on a missed parcel slip and politely request a two-hour redelivery window in Japanese, using 午前中, 12時ごろ, 14時から16時まで, and the pattern 〜時に届けてもらえますか with the hedge できれば.

You find a redelivery slip in your genkan because you missed a parcel. Calling the number on the slip is the fastest way to arrange a new delivery. This lesson teaches you to confirm your address once more and state a preferred two-hour window in polite telephone Japanese. You will learn the common window labels and the request pattern 〜時に届けてもらえますか, softened with できれば so you sound considerate rather than demanding. Because each carrier prints its own list of windows on the slip, you will also learn to read that list and choose a label that matches it. By the end, you can handle the call from start to finish with 〜ます forms and a clear, polite tone.
By the end, you can…
- read the redelivery slip and identify the carrier's own time-window labels.
- call the number on the slip and confirm my address politely.
- request a two-hour redelivery window using 〜時に届けてもらえますか.
- soften a request with できれば so it does not sound like a demand.
Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

午前中に届けてもらえますか。
Could you deliver it in the morning?
Gozenchū ni todokete moraemasu ka.
Use 午前中 for any time before noon. It is a broad window, so it is easy for the carrier to accept.
12時ごろに届けてもらえますか。
Could you deliver it around 12 o'clock?
Jūni-ji goro ni todokete moraemasu ka.
ごろ means 'around'. Use it when you want a rough time, not an exact one.
14時から16時までに届けてもらえますか。
Could you deliver it between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.?
Jūyo-ji kara jūroku-ji made ni todokete moraemasu ka.
Use から...まで for a clear start and end. This matches a two-hour window on many slips.
できれば、午前中がいいです。
If possible, the morning is good.
Dekireba, gozenchū ga ii desu.
できれば softens your preference. It signals flexibility, so the staff can offer another window.
住所をもう一度確認してもいいですか。
May I confirm the address once more?
Jūsho o mō ichido kakunin shite mo ii desu ka.
Use this at the start of the call to make sure the carrier has your correct address.
Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.
Make it make sense
Useful pattern
The core pattern is 〜時に届けてもらえますか。 Put a time word before に. For example, 午前中に届けてもらえますか (Could you deliver it in the morning?), 12時ごろに届けてもらえますか (Could you deliver it around noon?), and 14時から16時までに届けてもらえますか (Could you deliver it between 2 and 4?). The verb 届けてもらえますか literally asks 'can I receive the favor of it being delivered?' It is polite and common on the phone. Add できれば at the beginning to mean 'if possible': できれば、14時から16時までに届けてもらえますか。 This keeps your request flexible.
When to use it
Use these phrases only after you have confirmed your address and the slip number. Start with 住所をもう一度確認してもいいですか。 Then state your window. If the staff says that window is full, you can answer では、午前中はどうですか。 (Then how about the morning?) or できれば、12時ごろがいいです。 (If possible, around noon is good.) Always read the slip's own list first, because carriers use slightly different labels. For example, some slips say 午前中, 12時ごろ, 14時から16時まで, while others may use 16時から18時まで or 19時から21時まで. Choose a label that appears on your slip.
Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.
お電話ありがとうございます。再配達のご依頼ですね。
Thank you for calling. This is about a redelivery request, correct?O-denwa arigatō gozaimasu. Saihaitatsu no go-irai desu ne.はい。住所をもう一度確認してもいいですか。
Yes. May I confirm the address once more?Hai. Jūsho o mō ichido kakunin shite mo ii desu ka.はい、どうぞ。
Yes, go ahead.Hai, dōzo.できれば、14時から16時までに届けてもらえますか。
If possible, could you deliver it between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.?Dekireba, jūyo-ji kara jūroku-ji made ni todokete moraemasu ka.A little context goes a long way
On the phone, Japanese staff often speak quickly and use honorific phrases. You do not need to match that level. Clear 〜ます forms and a calm tone are enough. Saying できれば before your preferred window shows you understand the carrier may have limits. If you are unsure which window to choose, ask どの時間帯が空いていますか。 (Which time slots are open?) This is polite and practical.
One thing to watch for
Saying 14時から16時まで届けてください。 This sounds like a direct order, as if you are telling the carrier what to do.
Try this instead: Use the request form 〜時に届けてもらえますか and add できれば. For example: できれば、14時から16時までに届けてもらえますか。 This is polite and leaves room for the staff to suggest another window.
Your turn
Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.
1You want a delivery between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. What do you say politely?

できれば、14時から16時までに届けてもらえますか。
This uses the から...まで window and the polite request 届けてもらえますか. Adding できれば makes it flexible. You could also say 14時から16時までにお願いできますか, which is equally polite.
2You want to confirm your address at the start of the call. What phrase do you use?
Show a sample answer
住所をもう一度確認してもいいですか。
This asks permission to confirm the address once more. It is a natural opening before you state your time window. A shorter alternative is 住所を確認してもいいですか, but もう一度 is common because you are checking again.
3You prefer the morning but are flexible. How do you say that with a hedge?
Show a sample answer
できれば、午前中がいいです。
できれば means 'if possible', and 午前中 is the morning window. This states your preference without demanding it. You could also say 午前中に届けてもらえますか, but the がいいです form clearly expresses your preference.
Call the number on the slip, confirm your address with 住所をもう一度確認してもいいですか, then choose a window from the slip's own list. Use 〜時に届けてもらえますか and soften it with できれば. Keep your tone polite and flexible.
