French for Finding the Right Parcel Locker: le point relais, la borne and l'adresse exacte
Learn beginner French to confirm you are at the right parcel relay, ask whether there are several lockers, and check the exact address politely.

When a parcel is sent to a relay point or a locker, the hard part is often finding the correct one, especially if a street has several shops or machines. In this lesson you will learn three useful French nouns: le point relais (the relay point, usually a shop), la borne (the locker machine or terminal), and l'adresse exacte (the exact address). You will practise polite questions that seek confirmation, such as C'est bien ici, le point relais ? and Il y a plusieurs bornes ? The goal is to help you check the place calmly with staff, without assuming how any particular service works.
By the end, you can…
- ask politely whether a place is the correct parcel relay point.
- ask whether there are several locker machines nearby.
- check the exact address and confirm a detail with staff.
Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

C'est bien ici, le point relais ?
Is this the relay point, then?
say byan ee-see, luh pwan ruh-LEH
Use at the entrance or counter when you think you have arrived but want confirmation. The tag bien makes it a polite check, not a challenge.
Il y a plusieurs bornes ?
Are there several lockers?
eel ya plu-zyur born
Use when you see more than one machine or when staff mention a locker area. Il y a is the standard way to say there is or there are.
L'adresse exacte, c'est bien celle-ci ?
Is this the exact address?
la-dress eg-ZAKT, say byan sell-SEE
Use when you are comparing the address in an app or message with the street or building in front of you.
Je cherche le point relais au nom de Martin.
I am looking for the relay point under the name Martin.
zhuh shersh luh pwan ruh-LEH oh non duh mar-TAN
Use at a shop counter when you need to explain whose parcel you are collecting. Replace Martin with your own surname.
Pouvez-vous me confirmer l'adresse, s'il vous plaît ?
Can you confirm the address for me, please?
poo-vay-voo muh kon-feer-may la-dress, seel voo pleh
A polite request for staff. Use vous with strangers; it keeps the exchange calm and respectful.
Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.
Make it make sense
Useful pattern
The pattern C'est bien ... ? is a gentle confirmation question. It means something like Is it really ...? or So this is ...? You can put a noun after it: C'est bien ici, le point relais ? (Is this the relay point?) or C'est bien la borne ? (Is this the locker?). The word bien softens the question and shows you are checking, not accusing. For an address, use C'est bien celle-ci ? where celle-ci means this one, referring to a feminine noun such as l'adresse.
When to use it
Use these questions when you are standing in front of a shop or a machine and need to confirm before you act. If you see several machines, ask Il y a plusieurs bornes ? If you are unsure which shop is the relay point, ask C'est bien ici, le point relais ? If you need the address checked, say Pouvez-vous me confirmer l'adresse, s'il vous plaît ? Staff may answer Oui, c'est bien ici or Non, c'est l'autre boutique. Listen for ici (here) and l'autre (the other one).
Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.
Bonjour, excusez-moi. C'est bien ici, le point relais ?
Hello, excuse me. Is this the relay point?bon-zhoor, ex-ku-zay-mwa. say byan ee-see, luh pwan ruh-LEHOui, c'est bien ici. Vous avez un nom et un numéro de suivi ?
Yes, this is the place. Do you have a name and a tracking number?wee, say byan ee-see. voo za-vay un non ay un nu-may-roh duh sweeOui. Il y a plusieurs bornes ? Je ne vois pas la bonne.
Yes. Are there several lockers? I cannot see the right one.wee. eel ya plu-zyur born? zhuh nuh vwa pa la bonIl y a une borne dehors, à droite. L'adresse exacte est bien celle-ci.
There is a locker outside, on the right. The exact address is indeed this one.eel ya ün born duh-or, a drwat. la-dress eg-ZAKT ay byan sell-SEEA little context goes a long way
In France, le point relais often refers to a shop that receives parcels, while la borne is a machine. In Belgium and Switzerland, people may use other words for relay or pickup points, so if point relais is not understood, describe the place: un magasin qui reçoit des colis (a shop that receives parcels). Always begin with Bonjour before a question; it is expected in shops and makes the confirmation exchange smoother.
One thing to watch for
Translating Is this the relay point? as Est-ce que c'est le point relais ici ? and using a flat, direct tone.
Try this instead: Use C'est bien ici, le point relais ? The word bien signals that you are checking politely. Est-ce que c'est le point relais ? is grammatically fine, but it sounds more neutral and less like a confirmation. Add s'il vous plaît if you want extra politeness.
Your turn
Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.
1You are at a shop door and think it is the relay point. What polite question do you ask?
Show a sample answer
C'est bien ici, le point relais ?
This uses the confirmation pattern C'est bien ... ? and names the place. C'est bien le point relais ? is also acceptable, but ici makes it clear you are asking about the place in front of you.
2You see two locker machines. How do you ask whether there are several lockers?
Show a sample answer
Il y a plusieurs bornes ?
Il y a means there is or there are, and plusieurs means several. You can also ask Il y a une autre borne ? if you specifically mean another locker.
3Staff ask for the exact address. How do you ask them to confirm it politely?
Show a sample answer
Pouvez-vous me confirmer l'adresse, s'il vous plaît ?
Pouvez-vous ... ? is a polite way to ask someone to do something. Me confirmer l'adresse means confirm the address for me. S'il vous plaît keeps the request courteous.
Use C'est bien ... ? to confirm the place, Il y a plusieurs bornes ? to check for several lockers, and Pouvez-vous me confirmer l'adresse ? to verify the exact address politely.
