How to Say 'I Think Education Is Important' in Mandarin and Respect Other Views
Learn to state your opinion in Mandarin with 我觉得 and 我认为, then acknowledge a different view politely using 我理解你的想法. Includes pinyin, tones and a short dialogue.

In Mandarin, sharing an opinion and disagreeing are two separate moves. This lesson teaches you to state your own stance clearly with 我觉得 (wǒ juéde) or 我认为 (wǒ rènwéi), then show respect for a different view without pretending you agree. You will learn five useful phrases, the pattern 我觉得 + subject + 很 + adjective, and a short dialogue. All examples use simplified Chinese and pinyin with tone marks. Tones matter here: 觉得 is juéde, with a neutral second syllable, and 认为 is rènwéi.
By the end, you can…
- state my own opinion about education using 我觉得 or 我认为.
- acknowledge another person's view politely before giving my own.
Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

我觉得教育很重要。
I think education is important.
wǒ juéde jiàoyù hěn zhòngyào
The most common everyday way to give a personal opinion. 觉得 is softer and more conversational than 认为.
我认为教育很重要。
I believe education is important.
wǒ rènwéi jiàoyù hěn zhòngyào
More formal and deliberate than 觉得. Useful in a discussion, a presentation or writing.
我理解你的想法。
I understand your way of thinking.
wǒ lǐjiě nǐ de xiǎngfǎ
Acknowledges the other person's view without saying you agree. A respectful opening before you state your own position.
不过,我的看法不一样。
However, my view is different.
búguò, wǒ de kànfǎ bù yíyàng
Signals a difference of opinion. 不过 softens the contrast; 但是 is stronger and more direct.
我们可以有不同的看法。
We can have different views.
wǒmen kěyǐ yǒu bùtóng de kànfǎ
Closes a discussion on a respectful note. It accepts difference without ending the conversation.
Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Useful pattern
The core pattern is 我觉得 / 我认为 + topic + 很 + adjective. For example: 我觉得教育很重要 (I think education is important). 我认为读书很有用 (I believe reading is very useful). The adverb 很 sits before the adjective; it does not mean 'very' strongly here, it links the adjective to the subject. To disagree, do not change the pattern. Add a respectful line first, then your own 我觉得 sentence: 我理解你的想法,不过我觉得教育很重要。
When to use it
Use 我觉得 in everyday conversation with friends, classmates or colleagues. Use 我认为 when you want to sound more formal, for example in a meeting or a written argument. When someone states a view you do not share, first say 我理解你的想法, then give your own position with 不过. This keeps respect while staying honest. Avoid saying 你错了 (you are wrong), which sounds blunt. If the topic is sensitive, you can end with 我们可以有不同的看法.
Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.

I understand your way of thinking, however my view is different.wǒ lǐjiě nǐ de xiǎngfǎ, búguò wǒ de kànfǎ bù yíyàng没关系,我们可以有不同的看法。
That's fine, we can have different views.méi guānxi, wǒmen kěyǐ yǒu bùtóng de kànfǎ对,我认为读书也很有用。
Right, I believe reading is also very useful.duì, wǒ rènwéi dúshū yě hěn yǒuyòngA little context goes a long way
In many Mandarin conversations, stating an opinion directly is normal among friends, but in formal or unfamiliar settings people often soften it first with 我觉得 or a short acknowledgment such as 我理解你的想法. This is not weakness; it shows you heard the other person. Direct disagreement is possible, but a brief respectful line usually keeps the exchange comfortable.
One thing to watch for
Saying 我觉得教育是重要 to mean 'I think education is important.'
Try this instead: With a simple adjective, do not add 是. Say 我觉得教育很重要. Use 是 only in patterns like 教育是很重要的, where 的 ends the phrase. The plain form 我觉得教育很重要 is the natural everyday choice.
