How to Ask Where to Pick Up a Package in Mandarin Chinese

Includes practice questions and sample answers.

When a package is waiting at a pickup point, the most useful Mandarin question is 我的包裹在哪里取? (Wǒ de bāoguǒ zài nǎlǐ qǔ?), meaning “Where can I pick up my package?” This lesson focuses only on package pickup: asking for the pickup location, asking about opening hours, saying you are there to collect a package, and confirming that you are the recipient. You will learn complete phrases with pinyin and tone marks, plus the main pattern 在哪里 + verb, which asks where an action happens. The lesson stays at intermediate level and uses simplified Chinese.

    By the end, you can…

    • ask where to pick up my package in Mandarin.
    • ask about package pickup hours and understand a simple answer.
    • say that I am at the pickup point to collect a package.
    • confirm that I am the recipient and give my phone number if asked.

    Words you’ll actually use

Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

    我的包裹在哪里取?

Where can I pick up my package?

Wǒ de bāoguǒ zài nǎlǐ qǔ?

The most direct and useful question for package pickup. 取 (qǔ) means 'to collect or pick up'. Use it at a counter, by phone, or in a message.

    取件时间是几点到几点?

    What are the pickup hours?

Qǔjiàn shíjiān shì jǐ diǎn dào jǐ diǎn?

Use this to ask about opening hours specifically for package pickup. 取件 (qǔjiàn) is the common noun for 'package pickup'.

    我来取包裹。

I'm here to pick up a package.

    Wǒ lái qǔ bāoguǒ.

A natural line when you arrive at the pickup point. It tells the staff why you are there without asking a question.

    这是我的取件码。

    This is my pickup code.

Zhè shì wǒ de qǔjiàn mǎ.

Use when the pickup point asks for a pickup code. 取件码 (qǔjiàn mǎ) is the code sent by the delivery company.

    收件人是我的名字。

    The recipient is my name.

Shōujiàn rén shì wǒ de míngzi.

Use this to confirm that you are the recipient. 收件人 (shōujiàn rén) means 'recipient'.

Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

    Make it make sense

    Useful pattern

The pattern 在哪里 + verb asks where an action happens. In this lesson, 我的包裹在哪里取? means 'Where can I pick up my package?' You can replace 我的包裹 with another item, for example 我的快递在哪里取? (Wǒ de kuàidì zài nǎlǐ qǔ?) 'Where can I pick up my delivery?' or 我的信在哪里取? (Wǒ de xìn zài nǎlǐ qǔ?) 'Where can I pick up my letter?' The verb 取 (qǔ) stays at the end. For hours, use 取件时间是几点到几点? (Qǔjiàn shíjiān shì jǐ diǎn dào jǐ diǎn?). The structure 几点到几点 (jǐ diǎn dào jǐ diǎn) means 'from what time to what time'.

    When to use it

Use 我的包裹在哪里取? when you do not know the pickup location. Use 取件时间是几点到几点? when you know the place but need the hours. When you arrive, say 我来取包裹。 (Wǒ lái qǔ bāoguǒ.) 'I'm here to pick up a package.' If the staff asks for a code, say 这是我的取件码。 (Zhè shì wǒ de qǔjiàn mǎ.) If they ask who the recipient is, say 收件人是我的名字。 (Shōujiàn rén shì wǒ de míngzi.) These lines are polite and direct enough for a pickup counter, phone call, or text message.

    A conversation you could have

Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.

    A

    你好,我的包裹在哪里取?

Hello, where can I pick up my package?Nǐ hǎo, wǒ de bāoguǒ zài nǎlǐ qǔ?
    B

    在一楼取件处。取件时间是早上九点到晚上八点。

At the pickup point on the first floor. Pickup hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.Zài yī lóu qǔjiàn chù. Qǔjiàn shíjiān shì zǎoshang jiǔ diǎn dào wǎnshang bā diǎn.
    A

    好的,我来取包裹。这是我的取件码。

Okay, I'm here to pick up a package. This is my pickup code.Hǎo de, wǒ lái qǔ bāoguǒ. Zhè shì wǒ de qǔjiàn mǎ.
    B

    请稍等。收件人是你的名字吗?

Please wait a moment. Is the recipient your name?Qǐng shāo děng. Shōujiàn rén shì nǐ de míngzi ma?

A little context goes a long way

At many pickup points in mainland China, staff may ask for a 取件码 (qǔjiàn mǎ) or the last four digits of your phone number. 取件 (qǔjiàn) is neutral and common; 拿包裹 (ná bāoguǒ) is more casual and can sound less precise at a formal counter. If you are unsure, 我的包裹在哪里取? is clear and polite. Hours may be written as 9:00–20:00, so listen for 早上 (zǎoshang) and 晚上 (wǎnshang).

    One thing to watch for

Saying 我的包裹在哪里拿? (Wǒ de bāoguǒ zài nǎlǐ ná?) for a formal pickup point.

Try this instead: 拿 (ná) can mean 'take' or 'hold', but for collecting a package at a pickup point, use 取 (qǔ): 我的包裹在哪里取? (Wǒ de bāoguǒ zài nǎlǐ qǔ?). If you want a casual alternative, 拿包裹 is understandable in everyday speech, but 取包裹 is more precise for this situation.

    Your turn

Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.

1How do you ask 'Where can I pick up my package?' in Mandarin?

    Show a sample answer

我的包裹在哪里取? (Wǒ de bāoguǒ zài nǎlǐ qǔ?)

This uses 在哪里 + 取 to ask where the action of picking up happens. 我的快递在哪里取? is also acceptable if the package is a delivery.

2How do you ask 'What are the pickup hours?' in Mandarin?

    Show a sample answer

取件时间是几点到几点? (Qǔjiàn shíjiān shì jǐ diǎn dào jǐ diǎn?)

This asks for the start and end time. You may also hear 你们几点开门? (Nǐmen jǐ diǎn kāimén?) 'What time do you open?'

3What should you say when you arrive at the pickup point and the staff asks why you are there?

    Show a sample answer

    我来取包裹。 (Wǒ lái qǔ bāoguǒ.)

This clearly states your purpose. If they ask for a code, add 这是我的取件码。 (Zhè shì wǒ de qǔjiàn mǎ.)

    Take this with you

For package pickup, remember 我的包裹在哪里取? to ask the location, 取件时间是几点到几点? to ask the hours, and 我来取包裹。 when you arrive. Use 取 (qǔ), not 拿 (ná), at a formal pickup counter.
