In Spanish, you can get help without making a direct request. You simply say what you notice: the room is cold, hot, or dark, or you are thirsty. A helpful person often understands and acts. In this workshop you will say these lines, understand a reply, and then recall the exchange with the roles swapped.
Say what you notice
A hint names a condition, not a command. The line «Hace un poco de frío aquí.» means 'It's a bit cold in here.' The line «Hace mucho calor en esta sala.» means 'It's very hot in this room.' The line «Tengo un poco de sed.» means 'I'm a bit thirsty.' The line «Está un poquito oscuro aquí.» means 'It's a little dark in here.' Say each line slowly, then repeat it while imagining the room. Your tone stays calm and neutral; you are sharing an observation, not complaining.
Understand a helpful reply
A listener may respond with an action. The line «Sí, voy a cerrar la ventana.» means 'Yes, I'll close the window.' The line «Ah, prendo la luz.» means 'Ah, I'll turn on the light.' Notice that the reply answers the condition you mentioned. If you said «Hace un poco de frío aquí.», a reply like «Sí, voy a cerrar la ventana.» fits. If you added «Gracias. Y está un poquito oscuro también.», which means 'Thanks. And it's a little dark too,' a reply like «Ah, prendo la luz.» fits. Listen for the action in the reply, not just the first word.
Put the exchange together
The recorded exchange moves in a clear order. Speaker A says «Hace un poco de frío aquí, ¿no?», which means 'It's a bit cold in here, isn't it?' Speaker B replies with «Sí, voy a cerrar la ventana.», meaning 'Yes, I'll close the window.' Speaker A then says «Gracias. Y está un poquito oscuro también.», meaning 'Thanks. And it's a little dark too.' Speaker B replies with «Ah, prendo la luz.», meaning 'Ah, I'll turn on the light.' When you practice, keep this order: observation, action, thanks plus new observation, new action. Swapping roles changes who speaks each line, not the order of the exchange.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided hint exchange
You are in a room with a friend. You feel a bit cold. Your friend can close the window. Read both roles aloud, using the recorded lines in order.
Your task: Read Speaker A's first line «Hace un poco de frío aquí, ¿no?». Then read Speaker B's reply «Sí, voy a cerrar la ventana.». Then read Speaker A's follow-up «Gracias. Y está un poquito oscuro también.». Then read Speaker B's final reply «Ah, prendo la luz.». Repeat the whole exchange twice, then swap roles and read it again.
Choose the fitting reply
You hear a person say a line about the room. You have two possible replies. Choose the reply that matches the condition.
Your task: Situation one: a person says «Hace un poco de frío aquí.». Possible replies: «Sí, voy a cerrar la ventana.» or «Ah, prendo la luz.». Choose the fitting reply. Situation two: a person says «Está un poquito oscuro aquí.». Possible replies: «Sí, voy a cerrar la ventana.» or «Ah, prendo la luz.». Choose the fitting reply.
Recall and swap roles
Cover the lines. You and a partner will rebuild the recorded exchange from memory. One person starts as Speaker A and the other as Speaker B.
Your task: Speaker A begins with the cold observation and the invitation to agree. Speaker B gives the window action. Speaker A thanks and adds the dark observation. Speaker B gives the light action. Then swap roles and repeat from memory.
Common questions
Do I need to add a question to every hint?
No. A plain observation like «Hace un poco de frío aquí.» can work on its own. The recorded exchange also shows a version with an invitation to agree, «Hace un poco de frío aquí, ¿no?». Both are useful; choose the one that fits how directly you want to speak.
What if the other person does not act after my hint?
A hint is not a guarantee. You can repeat the observation or make a direct request if you know one. In this workshop, focus on saying the recorded lines clearly and on understanding replies like «Sí, voy a cerrar la ventana.» and «Ah, prendo la luz.» when they come.
