In this workshop you practice a short, realistic ticket-buying conversation in Spanish. You will ask for a round-trip ticket to a destination, say when you want to return, and ask how much it costs. You will also hear a full exchange between a customer and a ticket seller, then take both roles yourself. The goal is not to memorize long sentences, but to say a few useful lines clearly and in the right order. Listen to each recording, repeat it aloud, and then use it in the tasks below. Speaking a little every day is better than speaking a lot once, so keep your answers short and calm.
Asking for a round-trip ticket
Start with a polite request. The key phrase is ida y vuelta, which means "going and return," or round trip. To name your destination, use al plus the place, as in al aeropuerto, "to the airport." Notice the word order: the ticket, the destination, then por favor. If you are in Spain, you may hear billete instead of boleto, but both are understood in many places. When you speak, keep the rhythm even and say por favor at the end. This one line is enough to open the conversation at a ticket window.
Giving your return day and time
After the seller asks for the day, you answer with quiero regresar, "I want to return," plus a day. For example, «Quiero regresar el viernes.» means you want to come back on Friday. To add a clock time, use a las plus the number, and add de la tarde for afternoon or de la mañana for morning. A full answer is «Quiero regresar a las tres de la tarde.», which means you want to return at three in the afternoon. Keep the day after el: el viernes, el lunes, el domingo. If you only give the day, the seller may ask for the time, so be ready to add it.
Asking the price and hearing the answer
To ask the cost, use «¿Cuánto cuesta el boleto de ida y vuelta?», which means "How much does the round-trip ticket cost?" In the modeled exchange, the seller answers with a price: «Muy bien. Son doscientos pesos.», "Very well. It is two hundred pesos." Listen for the number and the word pesos. In the full exchange, the customer opens with «Buenos días. ¿Para qué día?», the customer answers «Quiero regresar el domingo a las seis de la tarde.», and the seller gives the price with «Muy bien. Son doscientos pesos.». Read those four lines in order to see how the conversation flows from request to day to time to price.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Good morning. A round-trip ticket to the airport, please.Claro. ¿Para qué día?
Of course. For what day?
I want to return on Sunday at six in the afternoon.Muy bien. Son doscientos pesos.
Very well. It is two hundred pesos.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided ticket request
Imagine you are at a ticket window. You want a round-trip ticket to the airport. The seller is ready to help you.
Your task: Say your opening line aloud. Use the recording «Un boleto de ida y vuelta al aeropuerto, por favor.» as your model. Repeat it three times, then say it once without looking at the text.
Listen and choose the right reply
You hear a short exchange at the ticket window. The customer speaks first, then the seller asks a question.
Your task: Listen to «Buenos días. The seller asks ¿Para qué día? Which answer fits: a day and time, or a price? Choose the correct kind of answer, then say a full reply using the pattern in «Quiero regresar el domingo a las seis de la tarde.».
Recall the full exchange with correct roles
Now you will play both roles in the full conversation. First you are the customer, then you are the seller.
Your task: Read the four lines in order: «Buenos días. Say them aloud, changing your voice for each role. Then cover the text and say the customer lines from memory: «Buenos días. Finally, cover the text and say the seller lines from memory: «Claro. ¿Para qué día?» and «Muy bien. Son doscientos pesos.».
Common questions
Do I need to say the price myself?
No. In the modeled exchange the seller says the price, as in «Muy bien. Son doscientos pesos.». Your job as the customer is to give the return day and time, then listen for the number. If you want to ask the price directly, the source lesson also gives «¿Cuánto cuesta el boleto de ida y vuelta?», but that line is not part of the four-line dialogue practiced here.
What if I only know the day, not the time?
You can give just the day first, as in «Quiero regresar el viernes.». The seller may then ask for more detail. When you are ready, add a time with the pattern in «Quiero regresar a las tres de la tarde.». It is fine to pause and think; short, clear answers are better than long, rushed ones.
