In this workshop you will practice speaking about when things happen. You will use recorded Korean lines to ask and answer about class and work schedules. You will also practice understanding a reply about time and then recall the correct roles in a short exchange. The focus is on speaking clearly and responding with the right time information.
Talking About When You Go and When Things Start
When you talk about going somewhere now, you can use a short present-tense line. «지금 가요.» means "I'm going now" or "I go now." It states your own action, so use it when you are leaving or saying that you go now. When you address someone else, you can use «지금 가세요.», which can be a polite request or command ("Please go now") or a polite question ("Are you going now?") depending on intonation. To talk about a schedule, you can say when something starts. «수업은 9시에 시작해요.» means "The class starts at nine." Notice that the time comes before the verb. You can also talk about a period of time. «1시부터 3시까지 일해요.» means "I work from one until three." The pattern shows a start time and an end time.
Asking and Answering About a Time Range
When you want to know the full time range of an activity, you can ask a question like «몇 시부터 몇 시까지예요?», which means "From what time until what time is it?" A natural answer gives both the start and the end. «9시부터 11시까지예요.» means "It's from nine until eleven." In a short exchange, one person can ask if you are going now, and you can answer with a yes and add the class start time. «지금 가세요?» is a polite question meaning "Are you going now?" and «네, 지금 가요. 수업은 9시에 시작해요.» means "Yes, I'm going now. The class starts at nine." Keep the same activity when you ask and answer about its time range.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Guided Exchange: Ask and Answer About Going Now
You and a partner will read a short exchange. One person asks if the other is going now. The other answers yes and adds the class start time.
Your task: Partner A reads «지금 가세요?». Partner B reads «네, 지금 가요. 수업은 9시에 시작해요.». Then swap roles: Partner B reads «지금 가세요?» and Partner A reads «네, 지금 가요. 수업은 9시에 시작해요.». Keep the same order: question first, then answer.
Reply Comprehension: Choose the Correct Time Range
You will hear or read a question about a time range and then choose the correct reply. The question asks from what time until what time it is.
Your task: Read «몇 시부터 몇 시까지예요?». Then choose the correct reply: A) «9시부터 11시까지예요.» or B) «수업은 9시에 시작해요.». Say your choice aloud, then read the correct reply.
Recall with Correct Roles: Who Asks and Who Answers
You will recall a short exchange about going now and a class start time. One person asks, and the other answers.
Your task: Without looking back, say who asks «지금 가세요?» and who answers «네, 지금 가요. 수업은 9시에 시작해요.». Then read the exchange aloud with the correct roles: the asker says «지금 가세요?», and the answerer says «네, 지금 가요. 수업은 9시에 시작해요.».
Common questions
Can I practice these lines alone without a partner?
Yes. You can play both roles by reading the question and then the answer aloud. You can also listen to the recordings and repeat each line. There is no automatic assessment, so check your own reading against the recorded lines.
How do I know which line answers a time range question?
A time range question asks from what time until what time. The answer should give both a start time and an end time. For example, «9시부터 11시까지예요.» gives both nine and eleven, so it answers the question in «몇 시부터 몇 시까지예요?».
