In this workshop you will practice a short, polite shop exchange in Korean. You will learn how to ask for a quantity of food, how to answer a shop worker, and how to close the conversation politely. The practice uses short recorded lines, so you can listen, repeat, and then try both roles. You do not need to invent new sentences; you will use the recorded lines as your model. Work slowly, repeat each line aloud, and check your answers after each task.
Asking for a Quantity
The main pattern here is a polite request for a specific amount of something. In «사과 한 킬로 주세요.», the speaker asks for one kilo of apples. In «우유 한 리터 주세요.», the speaker asks for one liter of milk. In «계란 여섯 개 주세요.», the speaker asks for six eggs. In «반 킬로만 주세요.», the speaker asks for just half a kilo. Notice that the amount comes before the item. When you speak, keep your voice calm and polite. You can practice by saying each line slowly, then a little faster. If a line feels long, break it into two parts: first the amount, then the item. This helps you remember the order without reading word by word.
A Short Shop Exchange
Now look at a simple exchange between a shop worker and a customer. In «어서 오세요. 뭐 드릴까요?», the worker welcomes the customer and asks what they can get. In «사과 한 킬로하고 바나나 세 개 주세요.», the customer asks for one kilo of apples and three bananas. 더 필요하신 거 있으세요?», the worker repeats the order and asks if anything else is needed. 감사합니다.», the customer says that is all and thanks the worker. This exchange has two roles: the worker and the customer. When you practice, try the customer role first, then the worker role. The worker repeats the order to check it, and the customer closes the conversation politely. This is a common and useful pattern for a small shop.
Listening for the Amount
When you listen to a quantity request, focus on the amount first. The amount tells you how much the customer wants. In «사과 한 킬로 주세요.», the amount is one kilo. In «우유 한 리터 주세요.», the amount is one liter. In «계란 여섯 개 주세요.», the amount is six. In «반 킬로만 주세요.», the amount is half a kilo. After the amount, listen for the item. This order helps you understand quickly. If you are the worker, you can repeat the amount and item to check. If you are the customer, you can listen for the worker's question and answer with a short closing line. Practice by covering the text and listening only to the audio, then say what you heard.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Okay, here are one kilo of apples and three bananas. Do you need anything else?
No, that's all. Thank you.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided Exchange: Customer and Worker
You will practice a short shop exchange using the recorded lines. One person is the customer and one person is the worker. If you are alone, you can play both roles by pausing the audio.
Your task: First, listen to «어서 오세요. 뭐 드릴까요?» and repeat it as the worker. Then listen to «사과 한 킬로하고 바나나 세 개 주세요.» and repeat it as the customer. 더 필요하신 거 있으세요?» and repeat it as the worker. 감사합니다.» and repeat it as the customer. After repeating, try the exchange again without looking at the text. If you are with a partner, switch roles and do it again.
Reply Comprehension: What Did the Worker Say?
In this task you will listen to the worker's lines and choose the correct meaning. The worker speaks in «어서 오세요. Read the choices before you listen.
Your task: Listen to «어서 오세요. Does the worker welcome you and ask what you want, or does the worker say goodbye? Does the worker repeat your order and ask if you need anything else, or does the worker ask for your name? Say your answers aloud, then check below.
Recall and Role Swap: Say It Without the Text
Now you will recall the lines from memory and practice both roles. Use the recordings only to check yourself after you try.
Your task: Cover the text. Say the customer's first request from «사과 한 킬로하고 바나나 세 개 주세요.» aloud. Then say the worker's reply from «네, 사과 한 킬로하고 바나나 세 개 여기 있습니다. Then say the customer's closing line from «아니요, 그거면 됐어요. 감사합니다.» aloud. After you try, listen to each recording and compare. If you are with a partner, swap roles: your partner says the customer lines and you say the worker lines.
Common questions
Do I need to learn new words to do this practice?
No. The practice uses only the recorded lines. You repeat and recall the same lines in different roles. This helps you build confidence with the sounds and rhythm before you add new words. If you want to say a different amount later, you can use the same pattern with a new number, but for now stay with the recorded lines.
How do I know if I said the line correctly?
There is no automatic check in this workshop. Listen to the recording again and compare your speaking with the audio. You can also record yourself and listen back. Focus on the amount first, then the item, and keep a polite tone. If you are with a partner, ask them to listen and tell you if the order of words sounds clear.
