Practise a German conversation about hiking at the weekend. A suggests Saturday; B gives a reason for hesitating. A proposes Sunday, and B is unsure about being free. The dialogue uses informal address. Listen to each complete line, then rehearse the same specific exchange with clear roles and answer checks.
Soften your disagreement
A simple way to disagree is to say that you see things differently. The recorded line «Das sehe ich anders.» means "I see it differently." It does not say the other person is wrong, but tone and context still matter. You can use it with friends, family, and colleagues. Another gentle option is «Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich zustimme.», which means "I'm not sure I agree." The verb zustimme goes to the end of the ob-clause, and the phrase works in both informal and formal situations. These two lines are useful when you want to be honest but not aggressive.
Acknowledge first, then add your view
Two short recordings end with aber and an ellipsis: «Ich verstehe deinen Punkt, aber ...» and «Da hast du recht, aber ...» They are unfinished openers that require a following thought. For a complete model, use «Ich verstehe deinen Punkt, aber ich bin am Samstag ziemlich müde.» It acknowledges the other view and says the speaker is quite tired on Saturday. This exchange uses du address; it contains no formal Sie dialogue.
Hear the pattern in a short dialogue
The recordings also include a short conversation about weekend plans. Speaker A says «Ich finde, wir sollten am Samstag wandern gehen.», which means "I think we should go hiking on Saturday." Speaker B replies with «Ich verstehe deinen Punkt, aber ich bin am Samstag ziemlich müde.», meaning "I see your point, but I'm quite tired on Saturday." Speaker A accepts this with «Okay, das verstehe ich. Vielleicht am Sonntag?», "Okay, I understand that. Maybe on Sunday?" Then Speaker B answers with «Hm, ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich am Sonntag Zeit habe.», "Hmm, I'm not sure I have time on Sunday." Notice how each reply stays calm and adds a reason or a new idea instead of simply saying no.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Read one side aloud, then answer in your own words. The goal is to make the exchange yours.
Ich finde, wir sollten am Samstag wandern gehen.
I think we should go hiking on Saturday.Ich verstehe deinen Punkt, aber ich bin am Samstag ziemlich müde.
I see your point, but I'm quite tired on Saturday.Okay, das verstehe ich. Vielleicht am Sonntag?
Okay, I understand that. Maybe on Sunday?Hm, ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich am Sonntag Zeit habe.
Hmm, I'm not sure I have time on Sunday.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided exchange: agree then disagree
Imagine a friend suggests a plan for the weekend. You want to show that you understand, but you also want to offer a different view. Use the recorded phrases to build your reply.
Your task: A proposes «Ich finde, wir sollten am Samstag wandern gehen.» Reply as B with the full recorded line «Ich verstehe deinen Punkt, aber ich bin am Samstag ziemlich müde.» Do not stop after the unfinished aber opener. Repeat the proposal and reply aloud.
Understand the proposed day and reply
Listen to the weekend-plan exchange. Check the particular details stated in the recordings rather than choosing a universally best reply.
Your task: After B mentions being tired on Saturday, which day does A suggest: Saturday or Sunday? Does B then confirm being free, or say they are unsure? Answer in English, then repeat the last two recorded lines.
Recall the recorded exchange
Replay the four dialogue clips in order, then cover their text. Keep the two speakers in the same roles throughout the exchange.
Your task: Say all four recorded lines from memory, alternating A, B, A, B. After one attempt, compare with the complete model below. If practising with a partner, exchange parts and keep the same conversation order.
Common questions
Can I use these phrases with someone I have just met?
This dialogue uses du address, so rehearse it as an informal exchange. The separate complete phrase «Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich zustimme.» has no second-person pronoun. The recordings here do not teach a full Sie version of the hiking discussion.
What should I do if I disagree but do not want to give a reason?
Use a complete recorded sentence such as «Das sehe ich anders.» or «Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich zustimme.» if you want to state a different view or uncertainty. The openers ending in aber are unfinished and need a continuation; do not treat them as complete replies.
