This workshop helps you ask about combined tickets and passes in French, understand the reply, and check what is included and how much you save. You will use short, polite questions and listen for the key details in the answer. The recordings give you the exact phrases to practise, so you can speak with confidence in a ticket office or at a museum entrance.

Asking if a combined ticket exists

Start with a simple yes-or-no question. «Est-ce qu'il y a un billet combiné pour plusieurs sites ?» means 'Is there a combined ticket for several sites?' You can also ask about museums specifically: «Est-ce qu'il y a un pass pour les musées ?» means 'Is there a pass for the museums?' Both questions are polite and easy to say. Use «Est-ce qu'il y a un billet combiné pour plusieurs sites ?» when you want to visit several different places, and «Est-ce qu'il y a un pass pour les musées ?» when you are focusing on museums. Practise saying each question slowly, then at a natural speed. Keep your voice calm and friendly.

Understanding the reply and asking for details

When the person answers, listen for the number of places and the price. «Oui, il y a un pass pour trois musées. Il coûte vingt-cinq euros.» means 'Yes, there is a pass for three museums. It costs twenty-five euros.' After that, you can ask what is included: «Qu'est-ce qui est inclus dans le billet ?» means 'What is included in the ticket?' You can also ask about savings: «Combien on économise avec le billet combiné ?» means 'How much do we save with the combined ticket?' These questions help you decide if the pass is good for you. Listen carefully to the answer and repeat the key numbers to yourself.

    Putting the conversation together

A full exchange can be short and clear. You begin with «Bonjour, est-ce qu'il y a un billet combiné pour plusieurs sites ?», which means 'Hello, is there a combined ticket for several sites?' The other person replies with «Oui, il y a un pass pour trois musées. Il coûte vingt-cinq euros.». Then you ask «Et combien on économise avec ce pass ?», which means 'And how much do we save with this pass?' The reply is «Environ dix euros. Le pass est valable une semaine.», meaning 'About ten euros. The pass is valid for one week.' Notice how the questions and answers follow each other naturally. Practise the whole exchange, taking both roles in turn.

    Hear the phrases in context

Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Say it before you study it

    Your turn

Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.

    1

Guided exchange at the ticket office

You are at a museum ticket office. You want to know if there is a combined ticket for several sites. The staff member will answer.

Your task: Read your first line aloud: «Bonjour, est-ce qu'il y a un billet combiné pour plusieurs sites ?». Then read the staff member's reply: «Oui, il y a un pass pour trois musées. Il coûte vingt-cinq euros.». Next, ask your follow-up question: «Et combien on économise avec ce pass ?». Finally, read the staff member's answer: «Environ dix euros. Le pass est valable une semaine.».

    2

    Choose the correct reply

You have just asked: «Est-ce qu'il y a un billet combiné pour plusieurs sites ?». The staff member gives you a reply. You need to choose which reply matches the question.

Your task: Read the two possible replies below. One is a suitable answer to «Est-ce qu'il y a un billet combiné pour plusieurs sites ?», and the other is not. Choose the suitable one and say it aloud. Reply A: «Oui, il y a un pass pour trois musées. Il coûte vingt-cinq euros.». Reply B: «Qu'est-ce qui est inclus dans le billet ?».

    3

    Recall and role swap

You are going to practise the full conversation from memory. You will play the visitor first, then the staff member.

Your task: Without looking at the lines, say the visitor's opening question, then the staff member's reply, then the visitor's follow-up, then the staff member's final answer.

    Common questions

Do I need to memorise every line before speaking?

No. Start by reading the lines aloud while listening to the recordings. Repeat them a few times, then try to say them without looking. It is fine to check the recordings again whenever you need.

What if I mix up the order of the questions and answers?

Keep the natural order: greeting and first question, then the reply, then your follow-up question, then the final answer. If you mix them up, pause and start again from the beginning of the exchange.
