In this workshop you practise a short counter conversation about sending a package. You will first learn the key lines, then take part in a guided exchange, choose the right reply, and finally recall the conversation with the roles swapped. The recordings give you the exact Chinese lines to say and hear, so you can repeat them aloud and build confidence before your next real errand.
The key lines and what they mean
Start by listening to the opening request. «我想把这个包裹寄到北京。» means the speaker wants to send a package to Beijing. If you are not sure how to begin, «请问，寄包裹怎么寄？» is a polite way to ask how to send a package. At the counter, staff may ask which service you want: «寄快递还是寄普通包裹？» asks whether you are sending it express or as an ordinary package. If you choose express, you can ask about timing with «快递几天能到？», which means how many days express takes to arrive. Listen to each line, repeat it aloud, and notice the polite opening and the clear question about service type.
A full counter exchange
Now listen to the whole exchange. The customer begins with «您好，我想把这个包裹寄到北京。», which means hello, I'd like to send this package to Beijing. The staff member replies with «好的。寄快递还是寄普通包裹？», meaning okay, are you sending it express or as an ordinary package? The customer answers with «寄快递。请问几天能到？有单号可以查吗？», which says express, then asks how many days it takes and whether there is a tracking number to check. The staff member closes with «大概两三天到，有单号。一共二十八块。», meaning about two or three days, yes there is a tracking number, and twenty-eight yuan in total. Notice the order: request, service question, choice and follow-up questions, then final answer with time, tracking, and price.

You will hear a staff question and choose the customer reply that fits. The recordings give you the exact lines to compare.
Your task: Listen to the staff question from «好的。寄快递还是寄普通包裹？», which asks whether you are sending it express or as an ordinary package. Which customer line fits best: the opening request from «您好，我想把这个包裹寄到北京。», or the answer from «寄快递。请问几天能到？有单号可以查吗？»? Say your choice aloud, then say the full line you chose.
Recall with roles swapped
Now you will play the staff member while the recording plays the customer. The order of the conversation stays the same, but you speak the staff lines.
Your task: Listen to the customer's opening line from «您好，我想把这个包裹寄到北京。». As the staff member, say the service question from «好的。寄快递还是寄普通包裹？». Then listen to the customer's choice and questions from «寄快递。请问几天能到？有单号可以查吗？». Finally, say the staff reply from «大概两三天到，有单号。一共二十八块。», including the time, tracking number, and total price.
Common questions
Do I need to understand every word in the recordings before I speak?
No. Start with the meaning of each full line, such as the request in «我想把这个包裹寄到北京。» or the service question in «寄快递还是寄普通包裹？». Then repeat the whole line aloud. You can use the English meanings in the sections to guide you, and you do not need to analyse each word separately.
Can I practise alone if there is no one to play the other role?
Yes. Play the recordings and speak your role during the pauses. You can play the customer using «您好，我想把这个包裹寄到北京。» and «寄快递。请问几天能到？有单号可以查吗？», then replay and play the staff member using «好的。寄快递还是寄普通包裹？» and «大概两三天到，有单号。一共二十八块。». There is no automatic assessment, so use the success criteria to check your own order and choice of lines.
