In this workshop you will practice short spoken exchanges for celebrating someone's good news. You will first learn the meaning of each recorded line, then use the lines in a guided exchange, choose the right reply, and finally recall the exchange with the roles swapped. Listen to each recording, repeat it aloud, and check your answers with the keys provided. The recordings are playable on this page.
Lines for celebrating and responding
Start by listening to each line and repeating it aloud. «你做到了!» means "You did it!" Use it when someone completes something difficult. «恭喜你!» means "Congratulations!" It is a general way to celebrate good news. «我为你骄傲。» means "I'm proud of you." Say it to show warm approval. «我为你感到骄傲。» means "I feel proud of you," a close variation of the same idea. «你做到了!考试通过了!» means "You did it! You passed the exam!" This combines the first line with a specific piece of good news. «谢谢!我太高兴了。» means "Thanks! I'm so happy." This is a natural reply from the person receiving congratulations. «我为你骄傲。我们庆祝一下吧!» means "I'm proud of you. Let's celebrate!" It adds an invitation after the praise. «好!我们去吃火锅。» means "Okay! Let's go eat hot pot." This accepts the invitation and suggests a shared activity. Notice that the congratulator speaks first, and the person with the achievement replies.
Who says what
In a celebration exchange, one person gives the good news or praise, and the other person responds. The congratulator can use «你做到了!», «恭喜你!», «我为你骄傲。» The person receiving the congratulations can use «谢谢! or «好! . When you practice alone, read both roles aloud. When you practice with a partner, decide who is the congratulator and who is the person with the achievement. Keep the order: the congratulator speaks first, then the other person replies. If the congratulator adds an invitation, as in «我为你骄傲。我们庆祝一下吧!», the reply can accept it, as in «好! . Do not start with the reply before the congratulation.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Guided celebration exchange
You and a partner will read a short celebration exchange aloud. One person is the congratulator, and the other is the person who passed an exam.
Your task: Partner A reads «你做到了! . Then Partner A reads «我为你骄傲。 Partner B reads «好! . Read the whole exchange twice, then swap roles and read it again.
Choose the right reply
Read the situation and choose the best recorded line for the reply. The situation is a celebration after someone shares good news.
Your task: Situation 1: A friend says «你做到了! Which reply fits better: «谢谢! or «好! ? Situation 2: A friend says «我为你骄傲。 Which reply fits better: «谢谢! or «好! ? Say your chosen line aloud.
Recall and swap roles
Cover the lines and try to remember the exchange from the first exercise. Work with a partner or read both roles yourself.
Your task: Without looking, Partner A (the congratulator) says the line for "You did it! You passed the exam!" Partner B (the person with the achievement) says the line for "Thanks! I'm so happy." Then Partner A says the line for "I'm proud of you. Let's celebrate!" Partner B says the line for "Okay! Let's go eat hot pot." After one round, swap roles and repeat.
Common questions
Can I practice these lines alone without a partner?
Yes. Read both roles aloud yourself. First read the congratulator lines, then read the reply lines. Keep the order the same as in the recordings, and say each line clearly.
What should I check after the recall exercise?
Check that you used the correct line for each meaning, that the congratulator spoke before the reply, and that you could still do it after swapping roles. If you missed a line, repeat it aloud and try the exchange again.
