In this workshop you will practice a short, practical exchange about taking the bus. You will learn how to ask which bus goes to a place, how to understand a simple answer, and how to respond politely. The native examples come from the recordings, and each one is explained in English before you use it. You can practice alone by reading both roles aloud, or with a partner by swapping roles. The goal is to speak clearly and confidently in a realistic travel situation.

    Asking the question

Start with a polite opening and a clear question. «请问,哪路车去海滩?» means "Excuse me, which bus goes to the beach?" The first part gets attention, and the second part asks about the bus. A shorter way to ask is «哪路车去海滩?», which means "Which bus goes to the beach?" Another natural version is «去海滩坐哪路车?», which means "Which bus do I take to go to the beach?" All three ask for the same information. When you speak, keep your voice calm and friendly. Say the place clearly so the other person can answer. You can use these questions at a bus stop, in a station, or when asking staff for help.

    Understanding the answer

After you ask, listen for the bus number. «一路车» means "Bus number 1." «二路车» means "Bus number 2." A fuller answer is «你可以坐二路车。», which means "You can take bus number 2." The important part is the number. If you hear a number you did not expect, you can repeat it to check. «二路车?谢谢!» means "Bus number 2? Thank you!" This repeats the number and adds thanks. Finally, «不客气。» means "You're welcome." This is a polite reply to thanks. When you practice, focus on hearing the number clearly and responding politely.

    Hear the phrases in context

Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Say it before you study it

    Your turn

Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.

    1

Guided exchange at the bus stop

You are at a bus stop. You want to go to the beach. Your partner plays a staff member or a helpful local. Read the lines in order.

Your task: Partner A says «请问,哪路车去海滩?». Partner B answers «你可以坐二路车。». Partner A replies «二路车?谢谢!». Partner B finishes with «不客气。». Then swap roles and read the same lines again.

    2

    Choose the correct reply

You hear someone ask which bus goes to the beach. You need to choose the fuller, more complete answer from the options below.

Your task: Question: «请问,哪路车去海滩?». Options: A) «一路车» B) «二路车» C) «你可以坐二路车。». Choose the best full answer and say it aloud. Then check the answer key.

    3

Recall the exchange with correct roles

Work with a partner. One person is the traveler who asks for help. The other person is the local who answers. Do not look at the lines at first.

Your task: Traveler: ask which bus goes to the beach using «请问,哪路车去海滩?». Local: answer with «你可以坐二路车。». Traveler: repeat the bus number and thank the local using «二路车?谢谢!». Local: reply politely using «不客气。». Then swap roles and repeat from memory.

    Common questions

Can I practice this workshop alone without a partner?

Yes. You can read both roles aloud yourself. Play the recordings and repeat after them. When you swap roles, you are still reading the same lines in the same order, but you take the other person's part. This helps you practice both asking and answering.

What should I focus on when I listen to the recordings?

Focus on the bus number in the answer and the polite words in the question and closing. The question asks which bus goes to the beach. The answer gives a bus number. The closing includes thanks and a polite response. Listen for these key parts and repeat them clearly.
