On a bus or in a taxi, you often need two things: the driver knows where you are going, and the driver tells you when to get off. In this workshop you practice a short, polite exchange, then check that you understand the driver's answer. You will speak both roles, so you can practice even with audio only. Listen to each recorded phrase or dialogue line, read its meaning, then say your part out loud.
Tell the driver your destination and your request
Start by saying where you are going, then ask the driver to tell you when you reach the stop. A recorded dialogue line for the full request is «师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。». This line means the speaker is going to the train station and asks the driver to tell them when they reach the stop. If you only need the request by itself, use «到站请告诉我一下。», which means "Please tell me when we reach the stop." Say your destination first, then the request. Keep your voice clear and friendly. You can also use the shorter, casual request «到了叫我一声。», which means "Give me a shout when we arrive." Use «到了叫我一声。» with someone you already know well or in a relaxed setting.
Check how many stops are left
After the driver knows your stop, you can ask how many stops remain. The recorded line is «还有几站?», which means "How many stops are left?" The same question appears in the dialogue as «还有几站?». When you ask this, listen for a number and for the driver's promise to call you. In the recorded dialogue line «还有三站,到了我叫你。», the driver says there are three stops left and will call you when you arrive. The short recorded dialogue line «好,知道了。» means "Okay, got it." That reply shows the driver has heard your request. If you hear «好,知道了。» after your request, you can relax and wait for the driver's call.
Practice both roles in order
A full practice exchange uses the recorded dialogue lines in this order: you say «师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。», the driver replies «好,知道了。», you ask «还有几站?», and the driver answers «还有三站,到了我叫你。». Do not change the order. First, play the audio and speak only your part. Then swap roles: you read the driver's lines while the audio plays your lines. When you swap, the order stays the same: request, short reply, question about stops, answer with the number and the promise to call. This helps you recognize the reply even when you are not the one speaking. If you are practicing alone without audio, read all four lines in order and then repeat them from memory.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

到站请告诉我一下。

dào zhàn qǐng gàosu wǒ yíxià
到了叫我一声。
Give me a shout when we arrive.

Read one side aloud, then answer in your own words. The goal is to make the exchange yours.
师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。
Driver, I'm going to the train station. Please tell me when we reach the stop.好,知道了。
Okay, got it.还有几站?
How many stops are left?还有三站,到了我叫你。
Three stops left. I'll call you when we arrive.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided exchange with the driver
You are a passenger on a bus. The driver is at the front. You want to get off at the train station. Use the recorded dialogue lines to guide your speaking.
Your task: Say your destination and ask the driver to tell you when you reach the stop. Use the full recorded dialogue line «师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。». Then wait for the driver's short reply. After that, ask how many stops are left using «还有几站?». Finally, listen to the driver's recorded dialogue line «还有三站,到了我叫你。».
Understand the driver's reply
You have already asked the driver to tell you when you reach the stop. The driver now answers you. Read the recorded dialogue line and choose the correct meaning.
Your task: Listen to or read the recorded dialogue line «还有三站,到了我叫你。». It means the driver says there are three stops left and will call you when you arrive. Now choose the best response from these two options: A) Say «好,知道了。» to show you understood. B) Ask «还有几站?» again immediately. Say your chosen line out loud.
Recall the exchange with correct roles
You are practicing without audio. Imagine the same bus scene: you are the passenger, and the driver is at the front. You will say all four lines from memory in the correct order.
Your task: Say the passenger's request first using «师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。». Then say the driver's short reply using «好,知道了。». Next, say the passenger's question about the stops using «还有几站?». Finally, say the driver's answer using «还有三站,到了我叫你。». Do not change the order.
Common questions
Can I use the short request «到了叫我一声。» instead of the full request «师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。»?
Yes, but the two lines have different scopes. «师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。» includes your destination and the request, so it is complete and clear for a driver you do not know. «到了叫我一声。» focuses on the shout request, so it works when the driver already knows where you are going or when you are speaking casually. If you have not told the driver your destination yet, use «师傅,我去火车站。到站请告诉我一下。» first.
What should I say after the driver answers with «还有三站,到了我叫你。»?
A short «好,知道了。» is enough. It means "Okay, got it," and it shows the driver that you heard the answer. After that, you can wait for the driver to call you when you arrive. You do not need to ask «还有几站?» again right away, because the driver has already told you how many stops are left.
