In this workshop you will practice a short, realistic exchange about getting to the airport. You will ask the question, understand a recommendation, and check whether another option works. Each native line is shown with its English meaning so you know what you are saying and hearing before you practice it.
Asking the question
Start with the simple question «去机场怎么走?», which means "How do I get to the airport?" This is a direct way to ask for directions or transport advice. A slightly softer version is «去机场怎么去最好?», meaning "What's the best way to get to the airport?" Use «去机场怎么去最好?» when you want a recommendation rather than just any route. In a real situation you can open politely with «请问,去机场怎么去最好?», which means "Excuse me, what's the best way to get to the airport?" The polite opener comes first, then the question. Practice saying each line slowly, then at a natural speed.
Understanding the replies
A common answer is «坐地铁去。», meaning "Take the subway." Another possible answer is «坐公交车去。», meaning "Take the bus." In the recorded exchange, the reply to the polite question is «坐地铁去最好,很快。», which means "Taking the subway is best, it's fast." Notice that the answer names the subway and gives a reason: it is fast. If you want to check another option, you can ask «坐公交车去可以吗?», meaning "Can I take the bus?" The response «可以,但是比较慢。» means "Yes, but it's rather slow." So the bus is possible, but the speaker suggests it takes more time. Listen for the vehicle word and the reason in each reply.
Putting the exchange together
The full recorded scene has two roles. Speaker A asks «请问,去机场怎么去最好?», then later asks «坐公交车去可以吗?». Speaker B answers «坐地铁去最好,很快。», then answers «可以,但是比较慢。». The order is always: polite question, recommendation, follow-up question, follow-up answer. If you swap roles with a partner, you change who reads A and who reads B, but the order of the lines stays the same. When you practice alone, you can read both roles aloud, pausing after each line as if waiting for a reply. Focus on clear question intonation for «请问,去机场怎么去最好?» and «坐公交车去可以吗?», and a calm, informative tone for «坐地铁去最好,很快。» and «可以,但是比较慢。».
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Can I take the bus?可以,但是比较慢。
Yes, but it's rather slow.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided exchange: ask and recommend
You are a traveler asking a station attendant for the best way to the airport. The attendant recommends the subway and says it is fast.
Your task: Read the traveler's line aloud: «请问,去机场怎么去最好?». Then read the attendant's reply aloud: «坐地铁去最好,很快。». Repeat the pair three times, keeping the question first and the reply second.
Reply comprehension: subway or bus?
You hear a recommendation and then a follow-up question about the bus. You need to understand what is being recommended and what the follow-up answer means.
Your task: Read the recommendation «坐地铁去最好,很快。» and choose what it recommends: the subway or the bus. Then read the follow-up question «坐公交车去可以吗?» and the answer «可以,但是比较慢。», and choose what the answer says about the bus: it is possible but slow, or it is not possible at all.
Recall with correct roles
You are practicing the full recorded scene from memory. One person is the traveler who asks, and one person is the attendant who answers.
Your task: Without looking at the lines, say the polite question, then the recommendation, then the follow-up question about the bus, then the answer about the bus. Use the recorded lines in that order.
Common questions
What does the polite opener mean before the question?
The opener in «请问,去机场怎么去最好?» means "Excuse me, may I ask." It comes before the question to get someone's attention politely. After the opener, the speaker asks for the best way to the airport.
Does the answer say the bus is impossible?
No. The answer «可以,但是比较慢。» means "Yes, but it's rather slow." So the bus is possible, but the speaker suggests it takes more time than the subway.
