In this workshop you practise a short, useful exchange: asking the price of a ticket and understanding the answer. You will hear the question, the price, and a check that asks the speaker to repeat. Work through the three tasks in order. Each task tells you exactly what to say and gives you an answer key so you can check yourself.
Asking the price
The core question for a price is short. «多少钱?» means "How much (is it)?" You can make it specific by naming the destination. «到北京的票多少钱?» means "How much is a ticket to Beijing?" and «到上海的票多少钱?» means "How much is a ticket to Shanghai?" Notice that only the destination changes; the rest of the question stays the same. When you ask, keep your voice calm and let the question rise slightly at the end. Practise «多少钱?» first, then add a destination with «到北京的票多少钱?» or «到上海的票多少钱?».
Understanding the answer
The answer to a price question is often just the amount. «五十块。» means "Fifty yuan." If you did not catch it, you can ask the speaker to repeat. «五十块?请再说一遍。» means "Fifty yuan? Please say it again." The speaker can then confirm with «对,五十块。», which means "Yes, fifty yuan." Listen for the number first, then the word for the money. If the number is unclear, use the repeat request instead of guessing.
Putting the exchange together
A full exchange moves in a clear order: greeting and question, answer, repeat request, confirmation. «请问,到北京的票多少钱?» means "Excuse me, how much is a ticket to Beijing?" and «五十块。» means "Fifty yuan." Together with «五十块?请再说一遍。» and «对,五十块。», this gives you a complete scene. Keep the order: ask, listen, ask again if needed, then confirm. Do not start with the price or the confirmation before the question has been asked.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.
