In this workshop you will practice asking what is near the station and answering with a nearby place. You will hear short recorded lines, match questions with replies, and then take both roles in a guided exchange. The focus is on understanding the meaning of each line before you say it, so you can respond naturally without guessing.

Asking What Is Near the Station

Start by listening to a simple question about a landmark near the station. The line «车站附近有什么地标?» means "What landmark is near the station?" Notice that the question asks for a place, not for a direction. A related polite version adds an opening phrase: «请问,车站附近有什么地标?» means "Excuse me, what landmark is near the station?" When you ask this, you are requesting information about a nearby place. Do not answer this question by asking the same question back; instead, give a place that is near the station. For example, a reply can name a supermarket, as in «附近有超市。», which means "There is a supermarket nearby."

Asking Yes or No About a Specific Place

Sometimes you already have a place in mind and want to check whether it is near the station. The line «车站附近有酒店吗?» means "Is there a hotel near the station?" This is a yes or no question about a hotel. A similar question about a supermarket is «超市在车站附近吗?», which means "Is the supermarket near the station?" The subject stays the same: the supermarket. A suitable affirmative reply is «对,超市在车站附近。», meaning "Yes, the supermarket is near the station." Another statement that gives a place near the station is «银行在车站附近。», meaning "The bank is near the station." Keep the same place in the question and the answer so the exchange stays clear.

Giving a Nearby Place as an Answer

When someone asks what is near the station, you can answer with a nearby place. The line «车站附近有一个大超市。» means "There is a big supermarket near the station." This reply names a supermarket and adds that it is big. The shorter line «附近有超市。» means "There is a supermarket nearby." Both are suitable answers to a question about what is near the station. If the question asks specifically about a supermarket, as in «超市在车站附近吗?», then «对,超市在车站附近。» is the matching yes answer. If the question asks about a hotel, as in «车站附近有酒店吗?», do not answer with a supermarket; instead, use a reply that matches the place asked about, or say you do not know if you have not learned a matching reply.

    1

Guided Exchange: Ask and Answer About a Landmark

You will take both roles in a short exchange. First read the question role, then read the answer role. Use the recorded lines as your model.

Your task: Read «请问,车站附近有什么地标?» as the question. Then read «车站附近有一个大超市。» as the answer. After that, swap roles: read «请问,车站附近有什么地标?» as the question while someone else reads «车站附近有一个大超市。» as the answer. Keep the question first and the answer second.

    2

Reply Comprehension: Choose the Matching Answer

You will hear or read a question and choose the reply that matches it. The question and reply must be about the same place.

Your task: Question: «超市在车站附近吗?». Which reply matches? Option A: «对,超市在车站附近。». Option B: «银行在车站附近。». Choose A or B, then say the matching reply aloud.

    3

Recall With Correct Roles: Station Landmark Check

In this task you will recall a question and its matching answer, then say them with the correct roles. One person asks for information; the other gives the answer.

Your task: Recall the question that asks whether the supermarket is near the station, and the answer that confirms it. Say the question first, then the answer. Use «超市在车站附近吗?» as the question and «对,超市在车站附近。» as the answer. Then swap roles and say them again in the same order.

    Common questions

Can I practice these lines alone without a partner?

Yes. You can play both roles by reading the question line and then the answer line aloud. There is no automatic assessment, so use the answer key and self-check in each exercise to confirm that your question and answer match.

What should I do if I do not know a matching reply for a place?

Use only the replies you have learned. If the question asks about a hotel, as in «车站附近有酒店吗?», and you have not learned a matching hotel reply, do not substitute a supermarket answer. You can say you do not know, or ask again later after learning a suitable reply.
