In this workshop you will practice a short, practical exchange about finding a laundromat. You will ask whether one is nearby, ask about its opening and closing times, and ask how to get there. You will also listen to a short dialogue and choose the correct reply. All native examples come from the recordings, and each one is explained in English before you use it.
Asking if a place is nearby
Start with a polite question. The line «请问,附近有洗衣店吗?» means “Excuse me, is there a laundromat nearby?” Use it when you stop someone to ask for help. A simple version is «附近有洗衣店吗?», which means “Is there a laundromat nearby?” If the person says yes, they may add a short direction. The reply «有,前面就有一家。» means “Yes, there is one just ahead.” “Just ahead” tells you the place is in front of you, not behind you. After you hear that, you can ask a follow-up question about time or directions.
Asking about opening and closing times
To ask about the opening time, use «洗衣店几点开门?», which means “What time does the laundromat open?” To ask about the closing time, use «洗衣店几点关门?», which means “What time does the laundromat close?” In a short conversation, after someone tells you the place is nearby, you can ask «几点关门?», which means “What time does it close?” The answer «晚上八点关门。» means “It closes at 8 PM.” Notice that the question and answer are about the same activity: closing. Keep the subject the same when you practice.
Asking how to get there
After you know the place is nearby, you may want directions. The question «怎么走?» means “How do I get there?” Use it after you have already mentioned the place, so “there” is clear. Listen for whether the answer describes a location on the right or an instruction to turn right. These are different: a location on the right tells you where something is, while a turn right tells you to change direction. In this workshop, practice only the questions and answers from the recordings.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

请问,附近有洗衣店吗?
Excuse me, is there a laundromat nearby?有,前面就有一家。
Yes, there is one just ahead.几点关门?
What time does it close?晚上八点关门。
It closes at 8 PM.Your turn
Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided exchange: ask about the laundromat
You are standing on a street and you need to find a laundromat. A friendly local person is nearby. You will play the person asking for help.
Your task: Read your first line aloud: «请问,附近有洗衣店吗?». Then imagine the other person replies with «有,前面就有一家。». Next, ask about the closing time using «几点关门?». Finally, imagine the other person answers with «晚上八点关门。». Say all your lines clearly and politely.
Reply comprehension: choose the correct answer
You hear someone ask a question about a laundromat. You need to choose the reply that matches the question.
Your task: Question: «几点关门?». Which reply is correct? A) «有,前面就有一家。» B) «晚上八点关门。». Say the letter and the full reply aloud. Then check your answer below.
Recall and role swap
You will recall the short dialogue from memory. One person asks for help, and the other person gives information. You can play both roles.
Your task: First, play the person asking. Say «请问,附近有洗衣店吗?», then wait. Then play the person answering. Say «有,前面就有一家。», then wait. Then play the person asking again. Say «几点关门?», then wait. Finally, play the person answering again. Say «晚上八点关门。». Do not change the order of the lines.
Common questions
Can I use these questions if I am the customer and the other person is staff?
Yes. The questions «附近有洗衣店吗?», «洗衣店几点开门?», «洗衣店几点关门?», and «怎么走?» work when you ask a staff member or any helpful person. The reply «有,前面就有一家。» and the answer «晚上八点关门。» can be used by a staff member or a local person. Keep your role clear: you ask, and the other person answers.
What is the difference between asking «洗衣店几点开门?» and asking «洗衣店几点关门?»?
«洗衣店几点开门?» asks about the opening time, and «洗衣店几点关门?» asks about the closing time. They are different questions. If you want to know when the laundromat closes, use «洗衣店几点关门?» or «几点关门?». If you want to know when it opens, use «洗衣店几点开门?». Do not mix the two.
