When someone apologizes in Chinese, a short reassuring reply often keeps the conversation comfortable. In this workshop you will hear recorded apologies and replies, learn what each line means in English, and practice saying the replies yourself. You will start with a guided exchange, then choose the reply that fits what you hear, and finally recall the whole exchange with the roles switched.
Hear the apology and the reassurance
A simple exchange starts with an apology and ends with a calm reply. In the first recorded line, the speaker says «对不起,我迟到了。», which means the person is sorry about being late. The reply «没关系,别担心。» means it is okay and there is no need to worry. A stronger apology appears in «我真的很抱歉。», where the speaker says they are really sorry. The reply «我接受你的道歉。» means the listener accepts the apology. These recorded lines give you two complete apology-and-reply pairs to practice out loud.
Short replies that put someone at ease
Chinese has several short, friendly ways to answer an apology. The line «没关系» means it is okay or it does not matter. The line «没事» means it is nothing or no problem. The line «别担心» means don't worry. The line «我接受你的道歉» means I accept your apology. Each of these can follow an apology, and each keeps your reply brief. Listen to the recording, repeat it slowly, then say it again at a natural speed while imagining someone has just apologized to you.
Listen once, then say the phrase yourself. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

Try each prompt out loud. Choose a guided start, the full sequence, or a challenge pass after your first attempt.
Guided apology exchange
You will play the person who receives an apology. A recording supplies the apology, and you answer with a recorded reply.
Your task: Play the apology «对不起,我迟到了。». After it finishes, say the reply «没关系,别担心。» out loud. Then play the stronger apology «我真的很抱歉。» and answer with «我接受你的道歉。». Repeat the whole sequence twice, keeping your reply calm and short.
Choose the reply you hear
You will hear one apology and then decide which recorded reply fits it. The apology is about being late, so the reply should reassure the speaker.
Your task: Play the apology «对不起,我迟到了。». Then listen to these three recorded replies as options: «没关系», «没事», and «没关系,别担心。». Which one directly tells the person not to worry about being late? Say your chosen reply out loud, then play it again to compare.
Recall the exchange with roles switched
You will rebuild the full exchange from memory, first as the listener and then as the apologizing speaker. The recordings are your model, not your script.
Your task: Without looking at the recordings, say the apology for being late, then give the reassuring reply. After that, switch roles: say the apology first as if you are the person who is late, then give the reassuring reply. Finally, play «对不起,我迟到了。» and «没关系,别担心。» to check yourself.
Common questions
Can I use any of the short replies after any apology?
The recorded replies «没关系», «没事», «别担心», and «我接受你的道歉» are all friendly responses to an apology. «没关系,别担心。» and «我接受你的道歉。» are full recorded replies that fit the apologies in this lesson. Choose the reply that matches the situation and keep your tone calm.
What if I cannot hear the difference between the replies?
Play each recording one at a time and repeat it slowly. Focus on the meaning first: «没关系» means it is okay, «没事» means it is nothing, «别担心» means don't worry, and «我接受你的道歉» means I accept your apology. Then say each one out loud and compare your voice with the recording.
