Korean for Beginners: Saying an Item Is Missing from Your Order
Learn to correct an order error in Korean with 안 왔어요 and 못 받았어요, plus the particle 이/가 and the object marker 을/를.

When a delivery or takeout order arrives with something missing, you are not asking for an extra item; you are reporting that the order is wrong. In Korean, the clearest beginner pattern is 제 주문에서 ___이/가 안 왔어요, which means '___ didn't come in my order.' You can also say ___을/를 못 받았어요, 'I didn't receive ___.' This lesson teaches those two patterns, the particles 이/가 and 을/를, and polite service phrases for confirming and fixing the problem.

The core pattern is 제 주문에서 + item + 이/가 안 왔어요. 제 means 'my,' 주문 means 'order,' and 에서 marks the source: 'from my order.' The verb 안 왔어요 is the polite past negative of 오다, 'to come.' Choose 이 after a consonant and 가 after a vowel: 밥이 안 왔어요, 콜라가 안 왔어요. You can also use item + 을/를 못 받았어요, which focuses on not receiving: 김치를 못 받았어요. Both patterns correct an error; neither asks for more food.
When to use it
Use these lines when the order has already arrived and one item is absent. Say the item first, then the problem: 제 주문에서 김치가 안 왔어요. If staff ask what is wrong, answer 이거 하나가 빠졌어요, 'one item is missing.' Then add a polite request: 확인해 주시겠어요? Avoid saying 더 주세요, 'please give more,' because that sounds like an extra request, not an error report. If you are unsure of the item name, point and say 이게 안 왔어요, 'this didn't come.'

In Korean service situations, stating the problem first and then making a polite request is normal and effective. 저기요 is a common, neutral way to get staff attention; it is not rude when said with a soft tone. Staff may respond with 죄송합니다 and 확인해 드릴게요. Keep your tone calm and factual rather than apologetic or angry.
One thing to watch for
Using 더 주세요 to report a missing item, as in 김치 더 주세요.
Try this instead: 더 주세요 means 'please give me more,' which sounds like an extra request. To correct an order error, say 제 주문에서 김치가 안 왔어요 or 김치를 못 받았어요. Use 더 주세요 only when you genuinely want an additional portion.
