Korean for Secondhand Pickups: Asking Whether a Cable or Accessory Is Included

Learn polite informal Korean questions to confirm whether a charger, cable, or other accessory comes with a used electronic device before you meet the seller.

Includes practice questions and sample answers.
Two friends sharing an evening conversation

When you buy a used phone, tablet, or handheld console in Korea, the listing photo often shows the device alone. The fastest way to avoid a disappointing meetup is to ask directly whether the cable or charger is part of the deal. This lesson gives you three short, polite informal patterns built around 케이블 (keibeul, cable), 포함 (poham, inclusion), and 구성 (guseong, what the package consists of). You will practise asking a seller in a chat app and confirming the answer at the pickup point. The register is polite informal: polite verb endings without stiff formal vocabulary, which is the normal tone for secondhand transactions between individuals.

    By the end, you can…

    • ask whether a cable is included using 케이블도 포함이에요?
    • ask whether a charger is missing using 충전기는 없어요?
    • ask what the full package contains using 구성이 어떻게 돼요?
    • confirm the seller's answer at the pickup point

    Words you’ll actually use

Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

    케이블도 포함이에요?

    Is the cable included too?

    ke-i-beul-do po-ham-i-e-yo?

The most direct question for a chat message. 도 adds 'too', suggesting you already know the device itself is part of the deal.

    충전기는 없어요?

Is there no charger? / Doesn't it come with a charger?

    chung-jeon-gi-neun eop-seo-yo?

Use this when the photo shows only the device and you suspect the charger is missing. The topic marker 는 sets the charger as the thing under discussion.

    구성이 어떻게 돼요?

What does it come with? / How is it configured?

    gu-seong-i eo-tteo-ke dwae-yo?

An open question that lets the seller list everything: device, cable, box, case. Useful when you do not know what to ask for by name.

    케이블은 빼고 주시는 거예요?

Are you giving it without the cable?

    ke-i-beul-eun ppae-go ju-si-neun geo-ye-yo?

A clarifying question when the seller's answer was vague. 빼고 means 'excluding' or 'leaving out'.

네, 알겠어요. 그럼 케이블 챙겨 주세요.

Okay, I understand. Then please bring the cable.

    ne, al-ge-sseo-yo. geu-reom ke-i-beul chaeng-gyeo ju-se-yo.

A polite closing line before the meetup. 챙겨 주세요 means 'please pack/bring it' and is common in pickup arrangements.

Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.

    Make it make sense

    Useful pattern

The pattern 'Noun + 도 포함이에요?' asks whether that noun is included as well. 케이블도 포함이에요? means 'Is the cable included too?' Swap the noun to check other items: 박스도 포함이에요? (Is the box included too?), 케이스도 포함이에요? (Is the case included too?). If you want to ask about something you think is absent, use 'Noun + 은/는 없어요?': 충전기는 없어요? (Is there no charger?). The particle 은/는 marks the item you are asking about, so the seller understands you are checking that specific thing.

    When to use it

Use these questions in the chat before agreeing on a place and time, because sellers often photograph only the main device. If the listing says 'full box' or shows a box, still ask 구성이 어떻게 돼요? to get a concrete list. At the pickup point, repeat the key item: 케이블 챙겨 주셨어요? (Did you bring the cable?). Keep the tone polite informal with -요 endings; this is friendly but not casual, and it fits transactions with strangers. Avoid demanding language, since the seller is an individual, not a shop.

    A conversation you could have

Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.

    A

안녕하세요. 이 태블릿 아직 판매 중이에요?

    Hello. Is this tablet still for sale?an-nyeong-ha-se-yo. i tae-beul-lit a-jik pan-mae jung-i-e-yo?
    B

    네, 판매 중이에요. 케이블도 포함이에요?

Yes, it is still for sale. Is the cable included too?ne, pan-mae jung-i-e-yo. ke-i-beul-do po-ham-i-e-yo?
    A

    아, 케이블은 없어요. 충전기는 없어요?

Ah, there is no cable. Is there no charger?a, ke-i-beul-eun eop-seo-yo. chung-jeon-gi-neun eop-seo-yo?
    B

충전기는 있어요. 그럼 케이블 챙겨 주세요.

    There is a charger. Then please bring the cable.chung-jeon-gi-neun i-sseo-yo. geu-reom ke-i-beul chaeng-gyeo ju-se-yo.

A little context goes a long way

In Korean secondhand deals, sellers usually write short listings and buyers ask follow-up questions in chat. Using -요 endings keeps you polite without sounding distant, and asking about 구성 early prevents awkwardness at the meeting point. If the seller answers vaguely, a gentle repeat question is normal and not considered rude.

    One thing to watch for

Using the formal phrase 케이블이 포함됩니까? in a chat with an individual seller.

Try this instead: That sounds like a written policy or a shop announcement. For a person-to-person deal, say 케이블도 포함이에요? The -요 ending is polite and natural, and it matches how sellers actually reply in chat.

    Your turn

Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.

1You see a used handheld console listed with only the device in the photo. Ask in chat whether the cable is included.

    Show a sample answer

    케이블도 포함이에요?

This directly asks about the cable with the 'too' nuance, which fits a listing that already shows the device. 케이블이 포함돼 있어요? is also acceptable, but the 도 version is more conversational.

2The seller replies that the box is included but says nothing about a charger. Ask whether a charger is absent.

    Show a sample answer

    충전기는 없어요?

This uses the topic marker 는 to ask specifically about the charger. 충전기 안 주세요? is possible but can sound like a complaint, so the 없어요? form is safer.

3You want the seller to list everything in the package instead of asking item by item. What do you say?

    Show a sample answer

    구성이 어떻게 돼요?

This open question invites a full list. 무엇이 포함돼요? also works, but 구성이 어떻게 돼요? is the common phrase for asking what a package consists of.

    Take this with you

Ask 케이블도 포함이에요? or 충전기는 없어요? before the meetup, and use 구성이 어떻게 돼요? when you want the full list. Polite -요 endings keep the deal friendly.
