Japanese for Asking Where to Put a Folded Stroller at a Crowded Event
Learn polite Japanese to ask event staff where to leave a folded stroller, check whether it blocks the walkway, and request that staff hold it for you, using どこに置けばいいですか and 〜てもいいですか.

At a crowded venue, the hardest part is often not folding the stroller but finding out where it may safely go. This lesson gives you polite, considerate Japanese for exactly that moment: getting a staff member's attention, saying that the stroller is folded, asking where to put it, checking whether a spot would block the walkway, and asking whether staff can hold it for you. The goal is to ask first rather than leave the stroller somewhere that might obstruct others. You will practise ベビーカー, たたむ, 置き場所, 邪魔にならない, 預かってもらえますか, and 通路 in natural spoken Japanese.
By the end, you can…
- ask event staff where to put a folded stroller using どこに置けばいいですか。
- check whether a location would block the walkway with 邪魔になりませんか。
- ask permission with 〜てもいいですか and request that staff hold the stroller with 預かってもらえますか。
Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

Excuse me, I've folded my stroller; where should I put it?
su-mi-ma-sen, be-bii-kaa o ta-tan-dan desu ga, do-ko ni o-ke-ba ii desu ka
Use this as your main opening question to a staff member at an entrance or information desk. たたんだんですが explains your situation before you ask, which sounds considerate.
May I put it here?
ko-ko ni o-i-te mo ii desu ka
Point at the exact spot as you say ここ. This is the standard polite permission pattern for placing something somewhere.
Would this spot block the walkway?
ko-no ba-sho wa tsuu-ro no ja-ma ni na-ri-ma-sen ka
Use this when you have found a possible spot but are not sure it is safe. 通路 means walkway or aisle, and 邪魔にならない means not getting in the way.
Could you hold my stroller for me?
be-bii-kaa o a-zu-kat-te mo-ra-e-ma-su ka
Use this at a cloakroom or staff desk when you would rather hand the stroller over than leave it standing somewhere. It asks whether staff can keep it, not where you should put it yourself.
Could you tell me where to put it?
o-ki-ba-sho o o-shi-e-te mo-ra-e-ma-su ka
A slightly softer alternative to どこに置けばいいですか when you want to ask for guidance rather than a direct instruction.
Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.
Make it make sense
Useful pattern
どこに置けばいいですか asks where you should put something. The 〜ば form plus いいですか expresses 'what would be good to do'. With a place, you can also say ここに置いてもいいですか to ask permission for one specific spot. Compare: どこに置けばいいですか (where should I put it?) and ここに置いてもいいですか (may I put it here?). Use the first when you have no idea, and the second when you have already chosen a spot and want approval.
When to use it
Use these patterns with staff at entrances, information desks or cloakrooms, not with other visitors. Start with すみません to get attention, then state that the stroller is folded: ベビーカーをたたんだんですが。 If you find a spot yourself, check it with If you would rather not leave it standing, ask Always ask before leaving it, because a folded stroller can still block a 通路.
Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.

There's a place to put it next to the entrance. You can put it there.i-ri-gu-chi no yo-ko ni o-ki-ba-sho ga a-ri-ma-su. so-ko ni o-i-te mo ii desu yo

It's fine. But when it's crowded, can you hold it for me?dai-jou-bu desu. de-mo, kon-de i-ru to-ki wa a-zu-kat-te mo-ra-e-ma-su kaA little context goes a long way
Japanese service staff often prefer to decide where belongings go, so asking first is both polite and practical. 預かってもらえますか uses もらえますか, which frames the request as a favour received, softer than a direct demand. At busy venues, staff may redirect you to a specific spot, so listen for 置き場所 and follow their instruction rather than choosing a corner yourself.
One thing to watch for
Saying ここに置いてもいい? with rising intonation to staff, or leaving the stroller without asking because it is folded.
Try this instead: Use the full polite form A folded stroller can still block a 通路, so ask first: ベビーカーをたたんだんですが、どこに置けばいいですか。
Your turn
Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.
1You have folded your stroller and want staff to tell you where to put it. What do you say?
Show a sample answer
This states the situation and asks for guidance politely. 置き場所を教えてもらえますか is also acceptable and slightly softer.
2You found a spot near a wall but it is close to a walkway. How do you check it?
Show a sample answer
This asks whether the spot blocks the walkway. You could also point and say ここに置いてもいいですか, but the 邪魔になりませんか version checks safety directly.
3You would rather hand your stroller to staff at a desk. What do you ask?
Show a sample answer
This asks whether staff can keep the stroller for you. If they cannot, they will likely tell you where to put it instead.
Ask staff before leaving a folded stroller: ベビーカーをたたんだんですが、どこに置けばいいですか。Then check the spot with 通路の邪魔になりませんか, or ask 預かってもらえますか if you want staff to hold it.
