How to Accept Feedback Politely in Mandarin Chinese
Learn to respond to criticism and suggestions in Mandarin with phrases like 谢谢你的反馈, plus softer, more formal and more casual alternatives for work, study and daily life.

Accepting feedback well is a social skill, and in Mandarin it depends heavily on who is speaking and how public the moment is. The core phrase is 谢谢你的反馈 (Xièxie nǐ de fǎnkuì), but a bare thank-you can sound abrupt if the feedback was critical. This lesson teaches you to acknowledge the comment, thank the person, and signal that you will think about it or act on it. You will practise five ready-made responses, from casual to formal, and learn how 我明白, 我会考虑 and 你说得对 work together. You will also see why 接受 (jiēshòu) is usually too strong for a first reply.
By the end, you can…
- thank someone for feedback in casual, neutral and formal Mandarin.
- acknowledge a criticism without agreeing to everything immediately.
- promise to think about or act on feedback using 我会考虑 and 我会改.
- choose an appropriate response for a teacher, a manager or a friend.
Listen once. Try it slowly. Then say it without looking.

Thank you for the feedback.
Xièxie nǐ de fǎnkuì.
Neutral, safe default with a colleague, classmate or friend. Add 我 before 会 if you continue with a promise.
Thank you for your suggestion; I will think about it.
Xièxie nǐ de jiànyì, wǒ huì kǎolǜ de.
Useful when you do not want to commit yet. 考虑 (kǎolǜ) means to consider, not to accept.
You are right; I will be careful next time.
Nǐ shuō de duì, wǒ xià cì zhùyì.
Good for small mistakes. 下次注意 is a common, modest promise used at work and school.
I understand what you mean; thank you for telling me.
Wǒ míngbai nǐ de yìsi, xièxie nǐ gàosu wǒ.
Warm and sincere. Use when the feedback is personal or sensitive, and you want to show you listened.
Thank you very much for your opinion; I will seriously improve.
Fēicháng gǎnxiè nín de yìjiàn, wǒ huì rènzhēn gǎijìn.
Formal, for a manager, teacher or client. 您 (nín) is the polite form of 你; 改进 (gǎijìn) means to improve.
Pronunciation guides are approximate. Slow playback keeps the original pitch.
Make it make sense
Useful pattern
A reliable pattern is: thank + acknowledge + next step. (Xièxie nǐ de fǎnkuì, wǒ míngbai nǐ de yìsi, wǒ huì kǎolǜ yíxià.) This means 'Thank you for the feedback, I understand what you mean, I will think about it.' The final part can be 我会考虑一下 (I will think about it), 我下次注意 (I will be careful next time) or 我会改 (I will change it). Notice that 一下 (yíxià) softens 考虑 and makes the promise less absolute. You can also use 你说得对 (nǐ shuō de duì) as the middle step when you agree with the point.
When to use it
With a friend or classmate, 谢谢你的反馈 is enough, and you can add 我知道了 (wǒ zhīdào le, 'I get it'). With a teacher, say (Xièxie lǎoshī de jiànyì, wǒ huì rènzhēn kǎolǜ). With a manager or client, use 您 and 意见: 谢谢您的意见,我会尽快改进 (Xièxie nín de yìjiàn, wǒ huì jǐnkuài gǎijìn, 'Thank you for your opinion; I will improve as soon as possible'). In a group setting, keep it short and calm; a long defence sounds like you are rejecting the feedback. If the comment is wrong, you can still say (Xièxie nǐ de fǎnkuì, wǒ zài xiǎngxiang, 'Thank you for the feedback; let me think again') instead of arguing immediately.
Listen to each line, then take one part and reply out loud.
Your report is well written, but the data section needs another check.Nǐ zhège bàogào xiě de búcuò, dànshì shùjù bùfen xūyào zài jiǎnchá yíxià.
Thank you for your feedback; I understand what you mean.Xièxie nín de fǎnkuì, wǒ míngbai nín de yìsi.
Good, so when can you finish the changes?Hǎo, nà nǐ shénme shíhou néng gǎi hǎo?
I will check it again this afternoon and send it to you tomorrow morning.Wǒ jīntiān xiàwǔ zài jiǎnchá yí biàn, míngtiān zǎoshang fā gěi nín.A little context goes a long way
In many Mandarin-speaking workplaces and classrooms, a quick, calm acknowledgement is valued more than a long explanation. Using 您 with a manager or teacher shows respect, while 你 is normal with peers. 反馈 is a neutral, slightly formal loanword; 意见 can sound more like criticism, so 谢谢您的意见 works best when the speaker has authority. Avoid saying 我接受你的批评 (wǒ jiēshòu nǐ de pīpíng) in a first reply: it can sound stiff or as if you are conceding a formal accusation.
One thing to watch for
Replying with 我接受你的批评 immediately after any comment, because it translates 'I accept your criticism'.
Try this instead: Use a softer, more natural response first: 谢谢你的反馈,我会考虑的 (Xièxie nǐ de fǎnkuì, wǒ huì kǎolǜ de). Save 接受 for formal or serious situations, and use 批评 only when the other person has clearly criticised you.
Your turn
Try answering out loud before checking a possible answer.
1Your manager says your presentation was too long. Give a polite formal reply.
Show a sample answer
This uses 您 for respect and 认真改进 to promise serious improvement. 谢谢您的意见,我会尽快改 also works if you want to mention speed.
2A classmate says your pronunciation of 是 is wrong. Give a friendly reply that does not fully agree yet.
Show a sample answer
This thanks the classmate and keeps the door open without admitting the error. 谢谢你的建议,我会注意的 is also fine and slightly more positive.
3Your teacher gives a long comment after class. Give a reply that shows you understood.
Show a sample answer
老师 is the correct address for a teacher, and 明白您的意思 shows you listened. 谢谢老师的反馈,我会认真考虑 is another valid, more formal option.
Thank first, show you understood, then promise one small next step: 谢谢你的反馈,我明白你的意思,我会考虑一下。
