You can also say 我可以帮你 (Wǒ kěyǐ bāng nǐ) to state 'I can help you'. To respond, use 谢谢，不用了 (Xièxie, bùyòng le) to decline, or 好的，谢谢 (Hǎo de, xièxie) to accept. Note that 帮忙 is intransitive; to say 'help you', use 帮你 (bāng nǐ), not 帮忙你.
When to use it
Offer help when you notice someone in need, such as a colleague carrying heavy boxes or a friend studying for an exam. Use 需要帮忙吗？with strangers or in formal settings; it's neutral and polite. Note that in more formal contexts, such as with elders or superiors, use 您 (nín) instead of 你 (nǐ) to show respect.
One thing to watch for
Saying 帮忙你 (bāngmáng nǐ) to mean 'help you'.
Try this instead: 帮忙 (bāngmáng) is intransitive and cannot take an object. To say 'help you', use 帮你 (bāng nǐ). For example, 我可以帮你 (Wǒ kěyǐ bāng nǐ) is correct, while 我可以帮忙你 is wrong. If you want to use 帮忙, say 我可以帮忙 (Wǒ kěyǐ bāngmáng) without an object.
