The basic request. 要 (yào) means 'want'; 一张 (yì zhāng) is 'one' plus the measure word for flat objects such as tickets.

The core pattern is 一张到 + destination + 的票 (yì zhāng dào + destination + de piào), meaning 'one ticket to ...'. For example, 一张到火车站的票 (yì zhāng dào huǒ chē zhàn de piào) means 'one ticket to the train station', and 一张到机场的票 (yì zhāng dào jī chǎng de piào) means 'one ticket to the airport'. Add 谢谢 (xiè xie) at the end to sound polite. If you simply say 我要一张票 (wǒ yào yì zhāng piào), the clerk will usually ask where you are going, so be ready to answer with 我要去 + place (wǒ yào qù + place).
When to use it
Use these phrases at a ticket window, a bus counter, or a station kiosk when you need a single journey. Say 一张到市中心的票，谢谢 (yì zhāng dào shì zhōng xīn de piào, xiè xie) to make the request. If the clerk asks 去哪儿？(qù nǎr?, 'Where to?'), answer 我要去市中心 (wǒ yào qù shì zhōng xīn). Then ask 多少钱？(duō shao qián, 'How much is it?'). If you want to be explicit that you are not returning, add 单程票 (dān chéng piào).

At small ticket windows, a short request plus 谢谢 (xiè xie) is normal and polite. Clerks may speak quickly, so listen for the destination and the price. Prices are often given as 块 (kuài), the colloquial word for yuan, rather than the formal 元 (yuán). If you do not catch the price, say 再说一遍，好吗？(zài shuō yí biàn, hǎo ma?, 'Please say that again').
One thing to watch for
Saying 一个票 (yí ge piào) for 'one ticket'.
Try this instead: Tickets use the measure word 张 (zhāng), not 个 (ge). Say 一张票 (yì zhāng piào). The measure word must match the noun, so learn 一张票 as a fixed chunk.

多少钱？(duō shao qián?) means 'How much is it?'; 五块 (wǔ kuài) means 'five yuan'.
多少 (duō shao) means 'how much' and 钱 (qián) means 'money'. 块 (kuài) is the everyday word for yuan. The formal word 元 (yuán) is also correct.
For a one-way local ticket, remember the chunk 一张到……的票，谢谢 (yì zhāng dào ... de piào, xiè xie), answer 我要去…… (wǒ yào qù ...) when asked where you are going, and ask 多少钱？(duō shao qián?) for the price. Use 单程票 (dān chéng piào) to make clear it is one way.
