To express hope, use 希望你喜欢 (Xīwàng nǐ xǐhuan) or 希望您喜欢 (Xīwàng nín xǐhuan). The particle 的 (de) at the end of 这是给你的 marks the sentence as a 是…的 construction, which highlights that the item is intended for the person. Also, when presenting, use both hands and a slight bow. The host may initially decline the gift a few times before accepting; this is a polite ritual. Don't be discouraged—just insist gently.
One thing to watch for
Using 你喜欢吗？ (Nǐ xǐhuān ma? 'Do you like it?') right after giving the gift.
Try this instead: It's better to say 希望你喜欢 (Xīwàng nǐ xǐhuan, 'I hope you like it') instead of asking directly, which can put the host on the spot. For example, say: 这是给你的，希望你喜欢。
