If you did not understand, say 请再说一遍。 (Qǐng zài shuō yí biàn. — Please say it again.) Note that 一 in 一直 is pronounced yì, not yī, because it precedes a fourth-tone syllable.
Polite openers
Starting with 请问 (qǐngwèn) signals that you are about to ask a question and makes the request softer. It is especially useful with people who are working or seem busy. You can also add 不好意思 (bù hǎoyìsi — excuse me) before the question. For example: 不好意思，请问最近的地铁站在哪里？ (Bù hǎoyìsi, qǐngwèn zuìjìn de dìtiě zhàn zài nǎlǐ?) This is polite without being overly formal, and it is appropriate in most everyday situations in mainland China.

In mainland China, metro stations are usually marked with a blue or green sign and the character 地铁. Asking a passerby, a shop employee, or station staff is normal, but begin with 请问 or 不好意思 to show politeness. In Taiwan, people often say 捷運站 (jiéyùn zhàn) instead of 地铁站, and 捷運 is the standard term there. If you are in Taiwan, use 最近的捷運站在哪裡？
One thing to watch for
Adding an article or plural ending, as in 最近的地铁站们在哪里？ or trying to translate 'the' directly.
Try this instead: Chinese nouns do not take articles or plural endings here. Say 最近的地铁站在哪里？ without 们 or any word for 'the'. 们 is only used for people in certain plural contexts, such as 我们 (we), not for places like 地铁站.
