The pattern 我要去 + place means "I want to go to + place". 我 (wǒ) means I, 要 (yào) means want, and 去 (qù) means go. Put the destination after 去: 我要去机场 (wǒ yào qù jī chǎng), I want to go to the airport. To ask for a taxi, use 我要叫一辆出租车 (wǒ yào jiào yí liàng chū zū chē), I want to call a taxi. 一辆 (yí liàng) is the measure word for vehicles. To ask about arrival time, use 车多久能到？(chē duō jiǔ néng dào?), How long until the car arrives? The answer often starts with 大概 (dà gài), about, plus a number and 分钟 (fēn zhōng), minutes.
When to use it
Use 我要去... when you are booking or requesting, not when you are already giving turn-by-turn directions inside the car. On the phone, say your pickup point and destination: 我在酒店，我要去火车站 (wǒ zài jiǔ diàn, wǒ yào qù huǒ chē zhàn), I am at the hotel, I want to go to the train station. At a taxi stand, you can simply say 我要去... to the driver. After booking, ask 车多久能到？(chē duō jiǔ néng dào?) and listen for 大概 plus minutes. If you need to confirm, say 好的，谢谢 (hǎo de, xiè xie), OK, thank you.

In mainland China, 出租车 (chū zū chē) is the standard word for a taxi. On the phone, 您好 (nín hǎo) is a polite greeting; 你 (nǐ) is fine with people your age or in casual settings. At a taxi stand, it is normal to state your destination before getting in. If you use a ride-hailing app, staff may still ask 您要去哪里？(nín yào qù nǎ lǐ?), where do you want to go?
One thing to watch for
Using 我要去... to give directions after you are already in the taxi, for example saying 我要去 left at every turn.
Try this instead: Use 我要去... for the destination request. For directions inside the car, use verbs like 左转 (zuǒ zhuǎn), turn left, or 右转 (yòu zhuǎn), turn right. For example: 前面左转 (qián miàn zuǒ zhuǎn), turn left ahead.
